Toys and Games Reviews of Guess Who? Board GameCustomer Review: A PAIN IN THE WAZOO TO SET UP!!!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for my son for Christmas and after all of the running around and craziness was over we decided to get this out and try it. I about FREAKED when I opened the game and found out that I had to assemble 48 little game pieces where the pictures had to be inserted in SUCH a way that it was maddening!!!! Do not kid yourself...it will take you a good hour to assemble the little game pieces. So my son was disappointed to say the least, that it took FOREVER to get the game together and get started. You then have to snap in all of the little assembled by you pieces in as well, and some do not stay secure and you are constantly re-snapping them in....That said, once you get it together, it is a cute little quick game, but it only has 5 girls to choose from, so if you choose to be a girl, the game is over rather quickly. It is fun, but maybe the newer version is better thought out.
Customer Review: the little box of magic Summary: 5 Stars
i've been playing guess who for years now with my kids, grandkids and nephews and nieces, not to mention my wife, daughters, and brother. our old board broke recently so i wanted to buy a new one for the family. now, whoever Joe Moore, Pedros and Jazzy are deserve a special mention here. their review had me intrigued, to say the least. after over 10 years of guess who-ing, the new form of choosing 3 cards instead of 1 has changed the game for me and my family...at christmas we gave the new board to the grandkids and it was used all christmas and boxing day. the only problem was....the kids hardly got a game!! When the older members of the family tried the new form, none of them would stop. It made for a great holidays. so for everyone who's been playing this with the kids for a while, try the 3 card version and you'll be blown away.
Customer Review: A Great toy for some fun, like on a rainy day. Summary: 5 Stars
This toy is not the most educational or durable, but it sure is fun! When I went to an after-school program, everyone would race to these games first, and if you didn't make it there first, you had to wait your turn, which proves how much people OTHER THAN me like it too. It is fairly durable, because the little pieces that hold the "people" can break somewhat easily. The educational value...well, I guess it's good for being able to determine to "sift" through things to get down to the right "thing". That is how it applys to life, not the game. The game, you try to figure out who the other person has by asking yes or no questions. Like, Does your person have brown hair? And depending on the answer, you put down the people who do or don't have brown hair. Anyway, I would recomend this toy highly!
Customer Review: Fun learning game, with flaws.... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my 4-year old daughter and it is one of the few little kid games that I really enjoy playing. This game requires her to observe the cards she has and form logical questions to determine which card I have. I really see the wheels turning in her head as we play and she can honestly beat me at times! Having said that, the game also has flaws with it's design. We opened it up the day it arrived all excited to play and it took us well over 30 minutes to set up the board (and there wasn't a whole lot a 4 year old could do to help...). Every time we get it out to play we have to spend time replacing face cards that have fallen out of their slots and sticking a few of the plastic card slots back in place. I don't see this game lasting for years... bummer because it really is a fun game for us. Buy it on sale!
Customer Review: Fun for grade schoolers & parents Summary: 5 Stars
My 5 & 8 year old play this game endlessly -- and it's often hard to find games that work with their age difference, so that's great. There is no reading involved for younger kids, yet it develops logic and observation skills as players exclude or include the characters.
Also, the game is short enough that I can easily fit in time to play with my kids (and I enjoy it too).
My only gripe is the amount of time for initial assembly. For $15 I don't expect to basically assemble the entire toy from scratch! I think it took me nearly a half hour (You have to punch out all the plastic holders & cards and then insert cards one by one in holders. But it is a one-time thing, at least. And one of the plastic hinges broke during the first week of play, but it doesn't affect play too much.
