Toys and Games Reviews of Game Folio ScrabbleCustomer Review: Great Mini-Scrabble! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a big fan of Scrabble. There's a deluxe edition sitting next to me now. I brought a regular edition on a month-long camping trip, and played every night (we lost a "T"). I play online with my brother all the time. But I think I get the most use out of my Scrabble Game folio. It's small, convenient, you can put the game away for later without the pieces falling out. The only negatives have already been mentioned - the pieces don't always fit into the trays, they're easily lost and I don't know how easy it is to buy new pieces. But it's cheap, so not to worry about the negatives too much. I recommend it!
Customer Review: a waste Summary: 1 Stars
Don't waste your money on this horrible travel edition of Scrabble. It's tempting to buy because it looks cute and zips up, but it's amazing that something that should be so easy to construct works so badly. The tiny plastic tiles will pop out of place, often popping other tiles along with them. You'd better be dextrous or maneuvering your tiles on the tiny rack is next to impossible. The board folds in two and sometimes getting two tiles in place next to each other along the fold is not possible. I think the old travel scrabble has been discontinued. That's a shame because it was infinitely better.
Customer Review: HOORAY! Summary: 5 Stars
It is the size of a CD Case, zips up! The tiles click into place, and while I must admit once in a while they pop out, as I have read in bad reviews, the fact that they generally 94% of the time they stay in place, esp. when they are pressed in thightly before shutting it up. I also admit that I am a semi-adult, and I therefor have more motor skills, I can see that using it with childrten could be more of a challenege. But I highly reccomend it for adults (not that it wouldn't be great for kids) esp. on airplane trips. My personal bias decision of this item, is A+, SUPER, amazing, FANTASTIC! I love it!
Customer Review: Same good game, needs wider racks Summary: 5 Stars
Here are the major positives of this game: foldable game in a CD case, tiles hold in place by hooks behind them (but are easily breakable, so be careful handling them), and silk-screening on the tiles, so no one can braille the tiles for the blanks.
The only major negatives: needs wider racks for shuffling tiles. And this game can be too small for some.
No, this game isn't perfectly made. But it's either this or the modern Deluxe edition. Need I rant anymore?
What about a Super Scrabble edition in the same format as this game? That would be nice.
Customer Review: Great, except small pieces Summary: 4 Stars
We love this set. My only complaint is that the pieces are very small. I have small fingers and I find it hard to handle at times. I think this would be hard to use at the beach or on the plane. We also had to rub each piece on all four sides at first b/c they wouldn't stay on the board next to other pieces. It only took a few minutes though, and all the pieces fit now! So if you have that problem, just take a regular emory board and file each piece on four sides a few times. This will wear down the edges just enough to make sure they don't pop out.
