Toys and Games Reviews of FurReal Friends Butterscotch PonyCustomer Review: Holds its play value Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter got this for Christmas two years ago, when she was six. I wasn't sure how long it would keep her attention - but now, two years later - she still likes it.
When she first got it, she adored it. The movement is terrific, the expressions and movements are cute and funny. Its great to have a toy that big that she can climb all over.
Now, two years later, she still hops on the horse occasionally. She uses it as a frame for her forts, makes the dog ride it, brushes its hair. I'm amazed its appeal has lasted this long. It is in pretty good shape, too. The rubber in the mouth ripped, but the fur is still nice, legs and head sturdy and attached. We have not had trouble with going through batteries too fast (quite an expense on this large an item).
This product has stood the test of time. I recommend it.
Customer Review: Truly great product!! Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this pony for Christmas for my little girl who told Santa she wanted a pony. She loves it!! From the ears twitching right down to the tail flip, this pony is as close to the real thing a city girl will get. It chews on its carrot and makes all the sounds you would expect from a pony. We actually bought a very nice pink saddle and bridle set from a tack shop on ebay, that is made especially for Butterscotch and Smores. The only down side to this pony is; It's a machine, and it makes mechanical noises, but the only one it seems to bother is me. My daughter could care less when she is sitting on her back with her arms thrown around the ponies neck. If you enjoy watching your childs face light up, then this pony is the perfect gift. In closing, at Amazon, this pony was $100 cheaper than anywhere else we looked. Highly recommend.
Customer Review: Just submit to the Christmas craziness and GET IT Summary: 5 Stars
Its been a year in our house and this toy is STILL played with on a weekly basis. The original batteries from last Christmas are still working. My child is 8 years old and she can ride it fine. Pony has been groomed, tied to doorhandles, and used for riding instruction with various friends, dolls.
It does everything it says - neighs, head turns. It is a little freaky, but the kids love it. I've used it for photography sessions to get wonderful headshots of kids that otherwise would never sit still - cropping out the pony so no one is any wiser.
Our only complaint: 1) The eyelashes on this thing. I've never met a horse with eyelashes like this...they are like a llama.
2) Sometimes it is hard for the child to hit the rump in the right spot to get the pony to make the clippity clop sound.
Customer Review: Quality toy, great price the week before Christmas...we love it Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased Butterscotch the week before Christmas and was lucky enough to get it for $99.00 with free 2 day shipping. For that price - I feel like we got a fantastic deal on a well-made product.
Everyone who visits cannot believe how cool Butterscotch is and furthermore, can't believe that we got him for $99.
His fur is not your typical stuffed animal fur...it feels "ponylike"...and his mane is fun for my girls to brush (brush also included). The mane is furry on one side with the reverse side not furry.
Maybe on future generations of Butterscotch, he will include more interactive items - he came with one carrot. To avoid the dreaded battery drain that some reviewers have posted, my daughters turn him off when not in use (otherwise, he will continue to operate and make noise)...
Customer Review: 6 Year Old's Review of Butterscotch Summary: 5 Stars
I like it when Butterscotch pretends to walk. I like it when you brush her and feed her. I like Butterscotch because she is so cute. I like her even when I am not playing with her.
The thing I don't like is I don't like how many batteries she takes.
A NOTE FROM MOM- All we heard for weeks before Christmas was "I want Butterscotch." We were not going to buy it, but in a weak moment, my husband went out and found it. It is a nice toy, but our daughter doesn't really play with it a lot. She talks about it, writes about it, draws about it, but doesn't really play with it. It just sits in the room, but while she is playing with her dolls or games she is often talking to Butterscotch. Since she is an only child, Butterscotch has turned into her own not so invisible friend.
