Toys and Games Reviews of FurReal Friends Butterscotch PonyCustomer Review: Although expensive, great toy and large impact with kid Summary: 5 Stars
My 4 year old daughter still loves to play with her pony a month after Christmas. It was a great Christmas present - it being a large toy next to the tree. I really thought this would be a toy she played with for a couple of days and it would lose its appeal. But it has a surprising number of movements and sounds to keep her interest. It doesn't move across the floor, which I thought would add to her disinterest but was a huge positive for us as parents with lots of hardwood floors. So far it has been very durable too. The only negatives are that it's expensive and, like any electronic, it goes through batteries (it takes 6 "D" size). It's hard to find rechargable "D" size batteries and a recharger to accomodate. What's more is the switch to turn the pony off is under some velcro on the pony's belly, making it hard for a 4 year old to get to. After running out of batteries once, my daughter now knows to turn it off when she's done playing with it.
Customer Review: Lovely Pony but Didn't Come When Promised! Summary: 4 Stars
We were so excited to find this pony on Amazon for only 99.99 with free 2 day shipping on December 21st...guaranteed to arrive by the 24th. But...it didn't come until the 27th and our daughter was so disappointed on Christmas morning. It was horrible that Amazon advertised that and then didn't come through...and then only offered me $5 compensation because it hadn't come, which seems inadequate.
On the positive side, the pony is wonderful. Unlike other reviews I'd read (not that it mattered for us), it did not arrive with the box showing, but wrapped in heavy plastic which masked the pictures on the box in case it was a surprise. The pony worked well and was easy to assemble. The movements and sounds are great. You do hear the motor, unfortunately, but that is expected. The fur is really soft and brushable and the pony is even cuter in person than in the pictures. My daughter loves her and at least now we have her.
Customer Review: Grandma's Gift is The Winner!!! Summary: 5 Stars
2008 Christmas - purchased 3 FurReal Friends Butterscotch Pony for Grandkids from Amazon. Shipped directly to 3 families in Maine and Kansas. All 3 families said Grandma's Gift was the BEST!!! Everyone had fun and it was economical to purchase 1 pony for 4 kids, 1 pony for 3 kids, and another one for the last 3 kids. The parents could not believe how quickly they received them in plenty of time to assemble and put a big red Christmas bow with a note from Grandma for the kids to find in front of the Christmas Tree on Christmas morning!!! Perfect idea, perfect seller, perfect gift! Great Price & FAST shipping for FREE!
P.S. DO NOT ALLOW THE KIDS TO SEE THE BOX FROM THE SHIPPING COMPANY! IT HAS PICTURES ON THE BOX
P.S. DO NOT ALLOW THE KIDS TO SEE THE PONY UNASSEMBLED - COULD BE TOO CREEPY FOR LITTLE ONES SINCE THE HEAD IS SEPARATE AND COULD GIVE NIGHTMARES!
Customer Review: Butterscotch was the highlight of Christmas morning! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this from amazon for the amazing price of $100 just a few days before Christmas. With 2 day delivery, it was supposed to arrive by Dec 23rd. It arrived on the 24th, late, though thankfully in time for Christmas morning. The box had a huge picture of the pony, so hiding it from my daughter was a bit of a challenge. My daughter ADORES this pony. Everything else she received took a backseat. The assembly was easy, very straightforward. The motor noise is a bit much. Maybe they'll find a way to fix that in future models. It is really the only thing that takes away from the toy. My daughter didn't seem to care much though. It would be awesome if the pony walked around a bit. It makes a galloping "sound" and moves its head up and down. All in all, my daughter was ecstatic and loved it, so as a parent, that's about the best I could hope for.
Customer Review: Wonderful toy! Summary: 5 Stars
Our 7 year old daughter recieved Butterscotch from Santa Christmas 2006. Now its almost a year later, and she still loves her. We have great video of "The bestest christmas ever!" She still plays with Butterscotch, and brushes her hair and body, and our now 15 month old adores Butterscotch as well. They will both sit and "ride" her together with the clip-clop sounds. Wonderful bonding times with the two of them. Butterscotch is still in great condition, and with our daughter to be born this Thanksgiving I think we will get a lot of wear out of this toy, and it really is well worth the 250 price tag for a toy that will last thru my three children. Also you can buy blankets, saddles and bridles made by people on ebay, to make it special for each child, and it really helps keep the back hair pretty, since all the "riding' can fuzz the hair on the back.
