Customer Review: A little girl's dream come true

Butterscotch had been at the top of our daughter's Christmas list for three years running. This year Santa was finally able to find room on his sleigh, and come Christmas morning no other toy mattered at our house.
We had some concern that this might be a little "young" for an 8 year old, but decided to take the chance when Amazon had it on special. We're so glad we did! Butterscotch has been played with daily for two months now with no sign that she's getting boring.
Notes:
The box has a big ol' picture of Butterscotch on the outside, so if this is a surprise, be sure to take delivery when the little ones aren't around. Have a large spot ready to hide the box - it's HUGE.
PLEASE assemble the horse prior to giving it to a child. The head is not attached in the box, and it's honestly sort of freaky. It creeped me out to open the main box and find a giant headless pony inside, and then again when I opened the smaller box inside which just held a pony head. Yikes!
Have a good screwdriver and some D cell batteries on hand before assembly. An extra pair of hands is helpful too; one person can assemble, but with two it's much easier.
This toy is really big, I can't emphasize that enough. Our 8 year old is nearly 5 feet tall and she can sit on it comfortably. You can't just tuck this in a closet; it really needs a good amount of storage space considering it's just one toy.
All in all, Butterscotch is an amazing toy. I don't even mind that she spends a lot of time in the living room, because she's frankly just as interesting to the adults as she is to the kid.

!!!!!BEWARE!!!!! THIS PRODUCT IS DELIVERED IN A BOX *COVERED* WITH PICTURES OF THE PONY!!!! IF YOUR CHILD SEES THIS BOX (as mine did as we returned from picking her up at day care!) THEY WILL KNOW *IMMEDIATELY* WHAT IS INSIDE!!!
On a brighter note, we were thrilled to get the pony at such a great price and with such speedy shipping. However, the joy of my daughter discovering this Christmas morning was something that we will certainly miss.(*note* Amazon does forwarn of this, I guess I just missed that part)

Since we have been playing with the pony for two days, I have a few more comments to add. My daughter LOVES the pony. I would say that the body is very, very sturdy, and once I found the "secret" to fix the loud clicking noise in the neck, we LOVE it! For those of you who purchase this pony, note that there are TWO POSSIBLE HOLES in which to screw one of the screws (the one attached to the plastic string) - use the hole on the neck, NOT the base section. If you hear the motor clicking (like an oscillating fan that has hit a wall), then you have put it in the wrong hole. Unzip the neck and move that screw!
Assembly of the product took almost no time at all. Instructions were very clear and they really did a good job of preparing the pony for assembly.
I would definately recommend this toy, especially at the great price they are currently offering. AND, the huge box was a great gift to my 2yr old son, as well! ;)

I seriously debated over purchasing this toy for my 7 year-old daughter but this was the third year that she has asked for it for Christmas so we thought maybe Santa should come through this year! She absolutely loved it! I thought it would be a toy she would play with for a few hours and forget about but so far she has played with it every day, even her 12 year-old brother plays along with her. I asked a friend about it before I made my final decision, she purchased it for her daughter the first year it came out. Her daughter is now 11 and she said whenever her friends come over to play, they all go for the horse first. The only down side to this is please make sure you are home when the delivery person drops off this package as it is very large and hard to hide. I ordered it from Amazon on Thanksgiving day using standrad free 7-10 day shipping, the UPS guy left it on my front porch 2 days later. We pulled into the driveway after shopping on Saturday afternoon and there sat the Butterscotch box looking at us from the porch. We had to make an excuse to my daughter that Amazon just uses those boxes to ship things in because Santa can't carry the box on his sleigh. I even went so far as to tell her that they were butterscotch colored towels that I purchased for my sister for Christmas, so I went out & bought yellow towels to put in the empty box! But yes, I really would highly recommend this toy, it's very cute & lifelike and my kids love it.Customer Review: A Child's Dream

From the time my Grand Daughter woke up on Christmas morning, she asked if Santa brought Butterscotch. Although Butterscotch was not at her home, the pony was waiting for her at her Great Grandparents home where the family spent Christmas day.
When she walked into her Great Grandparents home, she looked around since there were not too many gifts under the tree which is unusual.
Butterscotch was wrapped with two large gift bags and placed in the hallway so she would not see the pony. Since Butterscotch was assembled, it was a giveaway as soon as you say the wrapping.
She was given a gift bag with Butterscotch's brush and carrot. She pulled out the brush and asked if it was for the puppy that Santa brought to their home.
After looking at the brush again, she said "This is for Butterscotch!" Her Mother then walked her to where Butterscotch was standing.
Needless to say between my Grand Daughter, who just turned 7, and my Sister's Grand Daughter who is 21 months, Butterscotch was a hit all day long.
My parents and I assembled Butterscotch and of course, had to play with it before wrapping it - just to make sure everything worked fine. We laughed like children.
This is a wonderful way for a child to have a pony without the daily routine.
Plus having it delivered right to my door, I did not have to worry about how I was going to get the pony home from the store. Very easy to assemble too.

I was a little concerned about buying this for my daughter, since she has been around real horses recently and spent time at a pony camp last summer. I thought she might not be impressed by a motorized pony. I was completely wrong - she absolutely loves this toy and has played with it non-stop since Christmas morning. I realize now that I should have given her this pony rather than let Santa deliver it; all I heard Christmas day was how great Santa is.
My only complaint is that while the cloth around the neck zips to to the body of the pony in a secure manner, the fabric is very loose right around the pony's neck, and you can easily feel the structural support for the pony's head. I can understand that this was done to minimize resistance on the motor and make the head more mobile, but unfortunately little girls like to hug ponies right around the neck, and I would think that this spoils the illusion a bit. It doesn't seem to bother my daughter, though.
I compare the value of this toy to the Barbie motorized Jeep my daughter got for her 6th birthday. They cost about the same, but in the few days since Christmas, the pony has already been played with more than the Jeep has been in two years My one fear is that the pony will not prove to be durable, but so far I have no indication that it is anything other than a great toy.
