Toys and Games Reviews of Fur Real Friends Biscuit My Lovin PupCustomer Review: Interesting for awhile only Summary: 3 Stars
This toy is cute but is really noisy so the robotic movements can be heard the entire time which makes it unrealistic. It also is too big to balance itself so it cannot walk. If your child really digs stuffed animals, she might continue her interest, but mine has lost interest in hers after a couple of weeks.
As far as the Wal-Mart sale price of $99, that is a fluke because Amazon often has toys for $10 less than retail, plus free shipping. I bought all our toys off Amazon in early December and a lot of them were half price, but now have gone up to regular price. With Amazon, you just have to keep surfing their prices because they change all the time. We bought ours at Costco for $149. I'd say that $60-$70 is about all that should be spent on this toy.
The Pleo dinosaur toy has rubber on the outside which does not allow the robotic sounds to be heard. But the Pleo toy is more complex and needs parental involvement to figure out how to use it.
Customer Review: Second Best to the real thing Summary: 5 Stars
How my daughter lit up when she found this under the tree this year!! We live in a small apartment and cannot have a dog - the most wanted pet of my daughter. Biscuit makes up for the real thing until we can afford a home and a real dog. Biscuit is so sweet - following commands and never destroying anything in the house!! I think my daughter would have liked it if he could fetch, as Biscuit stays stationary in one spot. But he does beg, lie down, shake, give a paw, and speak. He makes 'chewing' noises when the 'bone' is fed to him. He speaks his appreciation of being scratched behind the ears and pet along the back. We love how he leans in when being scratched behind the ears - just like a real dog. It doesn't bother my daughter, but I wish there was a way to get rid of the the "mechanical" sounds. Also wish he were a little more cushioned so he didn't feel so "boney". All in all, glad I got Biscuit on sale for my daughter - it brightened up our Christmas!!
Customer Review: BiscuitPup is too robotic for little kids Summary: 2 Stars
Got Biscuit as a gift for my 5 year old son, who LOVES dogs. He enjoys playing with the dog but is put off by the robotic sounds the toy makes every time it moves, as well as its delayed/complete lack of-response to his commands. My son speaks loudly and clearly but oftentimes the toy ignores him completely or does a wrong command. The mouth emits a 'crunch-crunch' sound when the toy supposedly has a bone in its mouth, but the sensors cannot distinguish between the toy bone and my son's fingers--'crunch-crunch' on a little boy's fingers is quite disturbing. After playing with this toy, my son always asks me to 'turn it OFF please, Mommy!' because the dog will continually move, bark, and whine even when not being played with directly. I suppose we should be impressed with the advanced-ness of this state-of-the-art robotic toy, but for the money we should have purchased him something like a DSi instead.
Customer Review: Not for every kid Summary: 4 Stars
If you think your child will love this, show him or her one at a store or friend's house to be sure your child wants it. [...], I had hours of happy anticipation building up to Christmas morning... That's when my 4-year-old raced to the tree, overlooking the dog until she was right beside it and it started whimpering....my little girl gasped "What is that?!!!" and backed away slowly, all the way to the wall. Three weeks later, while she says she loves the dog she can't abide it being turned on. So I have one expensive, heavy stuffed lab that gets no more use than the stuffed toucan we won at the Fair. It's not the dog's fault. Ours does what it promises. I just got caught up in my gift-giving fantasy and was sure my daughter would love a toy she'd never asked for or seen. Now and then I sneak the dog out of her room and pet it for awhile...remembering my happy anticipation of Christmas morn.
Customer Review: Totally Cute! Summary: 4 Stars
Both of my kids are allergic to dogs so it was an exciting day when we learned about Biscuit. They just got him for Christmas yesterday and they love him! I secretly am in love with him too its been a long time since we could have a "pet" and now that Fur Real came out with this fun pup we now can have a puppy :) What fun it is to have a dog that doesnt go potty, need to eat or chew anything up, and most of all my kids arent allergic to him :)
He is loud mechanically but i knew that before buying him from the reviews but honestly he is so cute you dont even think of the mechanical sounds when playing with him.
He really is like playing with a real dog he is so loveable!
He may get boring over time but i dont think he will in this house!!
