Every child wants to play with their toys immediately and this crazy oven is missing the heating element, which is a 100 watt bulb! Good luck finding one! Oh no, not just any bulb. It needs to be an old fashioned bulb and cannot be energy efficient or white.
In the brief moment that I was scanning the bulbs at the store today, two people came looking for a bulb for their kids easy bake ovens! I have had it with toy companies failing to include batteries and crucial parts. At $30.00, and an additional $5 to $10 per recipe, it should ALL be in the box. For the price, you're better off buying a toaster oven and monitoring the use. This thing probably cost less than $1.00 to make in China...
In sum, this item is very cheap and over dramatized by the commercial. The door doesn't even open and the deserts are small enough for a mouse. It's going back.

My daughter wanted one of these for Christmas. We just made her first "cake." She was thrilled and that is worth it to me. I won't say a word to her and will let her enjoy the experience. I didn't care so much about the light bulb thing...we were easily able to find one at our local grocery store. My issue is with the mixes. They are full of stuff I can't even pronounce let alone know what is being eaten. Second, it doesn't even make enough to fill one of the itty-bitty-mini-pans. We followed the directions exactly and it looked awful and tasted like a rock when it came out. Still, my daughter is thrilled to be making her own cakes and I will look for recipes online to allow her to continue enjoying it. I agree with other reviewers that, for the price being charged, a real timer shouldn't be too difficult to include! Will think twice before buying from you again, Hasbro.Customer Review: Horrible

I enjoyed this toy as a child, but it has evolved into something not worthy of much educational value or fun.
Hasbro is cheap with the cake mixes, in amount and in quality.
All the cake recipe called for was to mix in 1 1/2 teaspoons of water. It barely filled one tin, didn't rise and came out hard as a rock. It would have been better if it AT LEAST filled two or more tins, as children have friends or siblings that are doing this together. It taught the kids NOTHING about actually baking a cake. No egg. No oil. No milk.
No fun in baking as the window is obscured by a grate. You can't watch it rise.
I might have them try this again with my own recipes, but overall it is not worth the money.
I have no issues in tossing this in the trash. A big disappointment.

So we thought this one was going to be a hit for our 5 year old and she liked it but WHY would they not make the oven so you can watch the food cooking? As soon as she found she couldn't watch the food, she kind of lost the wind in her sails. The cake takes 10 minutes to bake and she loses interest by the time it is done. Now I know why the age for this is older. The attention span is definitely needed to finish a completed dessert from start to finish. The toy is safe provided an adult supervises the younger child and all the reviews are correct when they say the mixes are very expensive. I am going to try the home made recipes for breaking down the boxed cake mix you purchase in the store and see if that works. All in all we are happy with our purcahse and hope our little girl gets at least a year or two of enjoyment from this one.Customer Review: understand what you are getting

I based my ratings on a previous easy bake oven my daughter had. I bought this one as a x-mas gift for my neice,therefore, she didn't recieve it yet, so I can not give you a product review.
I can tell you that the description is a little deceiving. It is described as "including 3 mixes". Well, ALL easy bake ovens include 3 mixes. I thought they were including an ADDITIONAL 3 mixes. At the same time I ordered this, TARGET, had it advertised with an additional 3 mixes (and you got 3 additional mixes).Target's price was a dollar more,so i ordered it at Amazon, to save myself a trip to Target.Was surprised when I recieved it, and it didn't come with the extra 3 mixes. Called Amazon,they said I can return it for a full refund. I kept it, just so I wasn't bothered with returning it to the post office.
