I bought two of these for my two daughters. My youngest, age six, tried to use it first. We baked something for her to decorate. She was so excited -- except then I couldn't get the battery compartment open to install batteries. I happen to be pretty handy, so I was surprised. I tried many different tiny screwdrivers. Finally I used an additional tiny flathead to pry the "lid" off after I had loosened the screw. Since you cannot tell that the screws are getting loose as you rotate the driver, I'll remind you: Be sure to rotate counter-clockwise to loosen, clockwise to tighten.Customer Review: THE ICING ON THE CAKE

I purchased the Easy Bake Decorating Pen for my 2 grand daughters (aged 4 and 2 years.) We used it together to decorate cup cakes. The 4 year old had no problem using it (the button is very easy to push while decorating.)The 2 year old also used it with a little adult assistance. She kept saying "My turn! My turn! The best part of the toy is the different tips...the 4 year old loved making different designs. Also,it was very easy to clean. You can add food coloring to the white frosting and decorate for any holiday. I would recommend this toy as a great holiday gift.Customer Review: Buy it! Even the moms love it!

I bought two of these for my a cookie decorating activity at my party. They were great. At first we were thinking it looked complicated, but after the first use we were hooked. Moms loved it and the kids of all ages could operate it easily. The button was easy to push, and cleanup was easy. Just take it apart and pop in the dishwasher. The part with the batteries wiped down easily and was not very messy at all.You can just attach it straight to the icing container to fill it up.
$5 for this is a steal and it was a big hit!

I got this for my daughter for Christmas to go with her Easy Bake Oven. Unfortunately I did not have any frosting on hand so I made some. It was a bit on the runny side so it did not hold it's shape while frosting but you could see that if it was a bit thicker it would be really nice. The product seems very sturdy and although there are a lot of parts to clean it is easy to take everything apart. Overall a good buy and I would consider using it myself.
