I love this version for several reasons......
It has proven to me to be better for the visually impared, this version is easy to move and easier to see the letters on each tile.
This version is a lot more "heavy duty" than the rest. You can take this on trips - anywhere.
The spin table is amazing! What a positive addition to an already amazing game.
Pretending that you are super rich while playing this game is easy - because the game looks very fancy.
Your friends will love this edition because the tiles won't roll all over the board if you bump the table! This scrabble is great for people who can't move thier fingers too well - very easy to place words down on the board compared to the other editions of this game.

I have to say I was extremely disappointed when I received my copy of "Deluxe Edition" Scrabble and discovered that its components were actually of cheaper make than my old standard edition. I would advise finding a pre 1990's deluxe edition used on Ebay where it will be less costly and far more well-built. The 'fancy' wood tiles have no weight to them and the laminate causes them to easily slip out of your hands. It includes equally as shoddy plastic trays which for some reason make it harder to move your letters around than the old wooden ones. Finally, the board is simply atrocious. The "raised" grid that is supposed to hold the tiles barely functions. And the playing board itself is a cheap sheet of homely plastic. The only nice thing are the included score pads.Customer Review: Deluxe is the word!

You'll never go back to the flat, original version again! I am a big Scrabble fan, ever since I was a child, and this deluxe version is the best. The board holds your tiles neatly in place, and prevents them from sliding. The turntable-style board is great. No one has to read the letters upside-down or sideways. The base also provides storage for your letter racks, scorepads, etc. when not in use. This set even includes a bag for mixing up, and drawing your letter tiles, which can easily be passed around to the players. As an added extra, the plastic surface of the board proved to be a godsend when I accidentally spilled a glass of water! I just dried it off with a towel, and there were no problems at all. You'll love this set, and it would make a great gift, too.Customer Review: A must-have for any household

It's hard to imagine life without Scrabble! It's been around for over 50 years and is still as fun for all age groups. You can play with kids and help them learn new words, or play with adults and get into heated discussions over the "reality" of the words they have played!I'm a huge Scrabble fan. I play it in real life, on my computer, and on the internet. This Deluxe edition definitely gets a ton of play time in our house. The raised edges for the squares are HUGELY helpful in keeping everything in place as you work on the game.
The swivel base is also a great addition. You simply spin the board to face the next player - nobody has to try to play upside down or sideways!
Well worth the extra money just for those two features. Definitely a game to play often!

This is my favourite of the six, different Scrabble sets I own, the reasons being that the letters stay in place on the grid even if the board is accidentally jolted & the swivel board makes it easy to turn to face each player. I have had this game for more than 30 years, have taken it on vacations, to the beach & to various parts of the world in which we have lived, & after all that time it has survived with only a tiny crack in the plastic in the center of the board which does not, in any way, hinder its use. I have used this model as gifts to rave reviews & favor it over the expensive, gold-plated, Collectors Edition because the letters are so much more visible. A great game which stimulates learning & can involve players of all ages & from all walks of life!
