Customer Review: A Classic--VERY NICE SET!

Very nice. SInce everyone already knows about the game...I'll talk about this set.Box is OK, but gets frazzled after constant placing of the set in and out.
Base is remvable for packing..nice heavy plastic. Not easily damaged.
Game board is VERY excellent. Clear plastic overlay with grooves to keep letters on their spot (easily cleaned).
Bright colorful board top has big bonus info and easy to read. Can never get soiled because of plastic overlay.
Setting top on base allow EASY rotation to player.
Nicely crafted plastic letter holders..this is the only weakness.
Letter holders have LABELS with letter scores stuck to them and can fade or peel off/wrinkle over time.
Nice thick letter chits with engraved letters.
All around.... WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY OVER THE STANDARD BOARD SET!!!!!!

Customer Review: Poor Quality for the Price

I bought this game after my wife and I started playing Scrabble frequently. I thought that the rotating board would be more convenient than using our lazy susan. I also thought the raised grid would be great for keeping the tiles in place. However, for the price I paid, I expected much better quality. Upon opening the box, I immediately commented how cheap the plastic was. As I set the board down, the playing surface was very thin and wasn't really attached completely to the base. It was very thin cardboard and moved up and down when you touched it. On the box, it appears that the tile holders have the information about the number of letter tiles molded into them. But, they are just stickers. I packed it all up and returned it the same day. If I had paid a lot less, I would've kept it. But, it was just too poor quality for what I paid.Customer Review: Not Your Grandfather's Version

To all those who lament that the "new" Deluxe Scrabble is not as nice as the older Deluxe Scrabble, you are absolutely right. The game is made out of plastic and cheap cardboard. The raised grids are not deep enough and the tiles can still slip out. The whole game takes up too much room. Then again, is anything made as well as in your grandfather's day? You also can't expect too much for only 30 bucks. I discovered that a truly deluxe Scrabble game is sold at Restoration Hardware -- so deluxe, in fact, it is called the "Premiere" edition with mahogany finish, leather tile bag, drawers to store game pieces, lazy susan design, etc. The only problem is it costs 150 bucks! Probably not a good idea if you have kids, but great for adults who want a truly deluxe gameboard. And, no, I do not work for Restoration Hardware.Customer Review: The new Scrable is an improvement...

The board game swivels and it is easier to play tiles to make better words without getting that migrane from trying to read everything upside down. I like how the tile spaces are embedded so if you were to spin the board really fast, the tiles would face some resistance (good thing to have when you have an over zeolous Rottweiller... or, oh yeah, kids). The scoring is still the same and the tiles are wooden, yet they are more modern in appearance.
Scrable is a fun game. It gives one the oprotunity to build their vocabulary in a competative fashion and it also boosts spelling ability. In a way, it also helps with math because one has to tally the scores from each word produced.
Great game, even without its new look. Now with it, it is easier to play but just as fun and at times, just as challenging.
Customer Review: A real disappointment from an old Scrabble fan

My husband got this for my birthday. I have the old deluxe edition, but the turntable doesn't turn freely anymore, so I wanted a new one. I love playing scrabble and have been playing for more than 40 years! When I opened the box I couldn't believe the poor quality of this game. I can't imagine this holding up for more than a few games. The board is flimsy cardboard mounted on a cheap plastic grid, and the letter trays are the poorest quality plastic I've ever seen in a game! What happened to you MB to produce this horrible quality product and then sell for such an exorbitant price? You get what you pay for certainly does not apply to this item. Stick to the cheap model and you are more likely to get something usable. I hope I am able to return this item because I sure don't want it.
