Toys and Games Reviews of Cosmic Catch - Colors May VaryCustomer Review: Getting it to recognise the color tags Summary: 4 Stars
We bought this toy for our 6 year old, and yes, the batteries are a bit hard to get to. Initially we were having problems getting it to recognise the color tags, especially in the "your out!" game, since it goes so fast. We discovered that if you wear the tag around the middle of your hand, with the tag against your palm, the ball has a better chance of reading the tag. If it doesn't I just rotate my tag hand around the ball until it beeps. It seems that it should read the tags immediately, but this method has worked for my family.
Customer Review: Battery problem... Summary: 2 Stars
This toy is a great idea, although it needs some work. It is very difficult to get the battery compartment to open , as others have stated. The kids loved it at first, but it became very frustrating even for adults. Even when the ball was passed to the correct color band it would not recognize it and just make the error sound. We laid all of the bands on the counter and tried to see how long the ball would go and it sometimes would just make the error sound within a few attempts. The kids lost interest pretty fast.
Customer Review: Fun for the whole family!! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter got this for a present, and she and her friends play with it all the time!! They break it out for parties, and sometimes just the family plays. I have never had a problem with the battery compartment, and it has been very durable in a house with an 11 year old and 7 year old. So many of her friends love it, that they ask for it for gifts too! I have bought 3 of these as birthday gifts now. Great, fun game, and it gets the kids outside. What more can you ask for??
Customer Review: Flimsy piece of techno-junk Summary: 2 Stars
The kids had fun with it when it worked.
... which wasn't often.
It took us an hour to figure out how to open the battery compartment. (The screws are buried under an inch of foam.) Then, when it was being used, the ball would intermittently stop working because the batteries lost contact. (The pieces of metal they are supposed to touch are small and flimsy, and the ball gets jolted during regular play.)
Nice idea, but we can't recommend it!
Customer Review: Great Toy Summary: 5 Stars
Almost didn't buy for my grandsons when saw problems getting to batteries. There must be a lot of idiots out there that don't know the difference between a philips and a slotted screw driver. It took me approximately 1 minute to unscrew, put in the batteries and rescrew the battery cover on. DuH. Great toy. Grandsons, daughter and spouse have been playing without any problems for over 1 week. Of course batteries wear out, that's how Everedy makes money. Recommend buy.
