Toys and Games Reviews of Clue Harry Potter

Customer Review: Disappointed in the game...
Summary: 3 Stars

Bought this as a last minute Christmas family gift. I was very excited about it as we are huge Clue and Harry Potter fans. The disappointment comes in two areas. The first is that the board pieces are pretty boring. There are no "character" board pieces and people have to pull a card to designate their character. It would have been much more fun for the kids to have an actual figurine that represented a character instead of the odd question mark pieces that don't match the game board at all. The second aspect is that the house points system is very confusing and adds complete chaos to the game and is completely unnecessary for game play. We never use this part of the game.
So, game makers if you read this, I would totally buy a bonus pack of actual figurines to play the game with. Other than that we hardly ever touch it.

Customer Review: Fabulous game if you love Clue and Harry Potter
Summary: 5 Stars

My 8 year old son got this game for Christmas and I must admit trying to play it while the buzz of Christmas is around was difficult. We tried again today and it was not nearly as complicated as I had thought. We both loved it! It takes Clue to the next level. It may be more difficult if you haven't played regular Clue. It is so cool how passages change and spells are collected to battle the dark events. My son would have loved it if the pawns were the Harry Potter characters instead of just coloured tokens and I agree with others that the house points are a little disappointing but you can always just give out more in the beginning. If the help cards had ones that added points that could cure the problem too. Overall, we can't wait to play it again and show his grandma too!

Customer Review: Clue has an upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this board game thinking that the only allure it would have for my 8 year old son was the fact that it was Harry Potter based. I was happy to be wrong and surprised . I love that there is an added level to the old style clue with the dark mark deck and help cards. The most challenging part for my three boys is not losing all of your house points before you can rescue the lost student. If your child is a Harry Potter fan or not i think this toy is a very smart purchase and very worth the price paid for it. I would only say that you should be aware this is definately not for anyone younger than 7 reading is a big must.(my 4 year old was broken hearted he couldn't play too, so he became the dice thrower!)

Customer Review: Hours of Enjoyment
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit I am a huge HP fan therefore the reasoning behind the purchase of the game.
The first time the game was played I was actually only a spectator and so when I did get to play I was a bit confused the first time but I think we all were just getting used to the differences in this game compared to the original.
I have several friends whom I play board games with regularly and they not being HP fans were very skeptical about playing. I finally talked them into it and now it is one of our must play games each time we get together. We do tend to "cheat" a bit with the house points sometimes but it's all in the fun of the game.
Once you play a time or two you'll be hooked!

Customer Review: Hard to set up
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this game for our 10 year old in April. She and her friends tried to play it at her birthday party, but there are so many parts, and the setup to start to play takes so long, that they ended up just making up their own game with the various pieces. Since then, we tried to set it up to play again, and there are about 10 different stacks of different kinds of cards and tokens to keep separated. I'm putting them each in plastic baggies so setup is easier next time. The mechanics of just getting going on this aren't hard, just time-consuming, and have prevented us from actually being able to play the game yet... If they could streamline that process I'm sure it would be a lot more fun.
