Toys and Games Reviews of Chutes and Ladders

Customer Review: Great Classic Children's Game
Summary: 5 Stars

I played this game all the time when I was a kid. It was one of me and my sister's favorites, so I got it for my daughters. It is a very simple game so that even my almost-3-year-old can grasp the concept pretty well. It also teaches numbers, taking turns, and that there are consequences for your actions. If your game piece lands on a picture of you doing something bad, you get punished by going back toward the beginning, and if you land on a good deed, you go up toward the end. This is a great game for all ages, and the younger children have just as much chance of winning as anyone else, which is a plus.

Customer Review: takes too long
Summary: 2 Stars

I don't know if the board has changed, but as a parent of a 4 year old, I hate playing this. The board is like a big grid and my son gets confused as to which way he's headed. The spaces have numbers on them, but even I have to look at which row I'm in and when he turns a corner he thinks he's supposed to go up. I do like that the slides and ladders have pictures of rewards or punishments. We have more fun talking about the pictures than moving our pieces. My last complaint is how long it takes to finish a game. I feel guilty not playing it more often, but we just don't enjoy it.

Customer Review: Chutes and Ladders Rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so happy I bought this game. I never had one as a kid but I played last night for the first time with my daughter, 5 and my son, 3 and we had so much fun together. Although we get very busy we are going to start having several game nights a week. The game was interesting enough to hold my 3 year olds attention to the end which doesn't happen often, they got to practice their counting and I got to explain ethics and morals. The "rules" were very easy to catch on to and their were lots of giggles and laughter! Don't wait any longer to add this to your game room:)

Customer Review: At $5.00 it's OKAY, a little flimsy, confusing game board
Summary: 3 Stars

Its chutes and ladders, it should be simple fun. You spin the spinner move your spaces, hit a ladder, go up, hit a chute, come down. There are a lot of fun pictures on the game board, however, it makes it hard to see the numbers, or the directional arrows.

As this game is supposed to be for the super young this becomes a big frustration. The standee pieces are cardboard which is fine but after playing a few games the bottoms or our characters are fraying.

They made it cheap to be affordable, so you get what you pay for here.

Customer Review: Pretty Fun. Can take forever, though.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an old standby. You have to have this one if you have kids. It's the same as it ever was. If it's been a number of years since you've had the pleasure of playing, let me remind you that a game of this can take an eternity. Not always. It just depends on if everyone keeps landing on the chutes. Sometimes, it takes long enough that one or more of the kids will actually just get sick of it and quit. Sometimes, you get lucky and it goes by really quickly.

Pretty good game for ages 2 or 3 and up.
