Toys and Games Reviews of Candyland - The World of Sweets Board Game

Customer Review: Introduce your little one to board games with this classic!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great "first board game" for kids, who will probably enjoy it from ages 3-5 or so. Extremely simple to play, players take turns drawing cards and moving their pieces to the colored square indicated by the card. Rather predictable, though with a few twists and turns thrown in, it is simple enough to keep the attention of the very young. I award it 5 stars for educational value because it teaches color recognition, taking turns, and fair play (when these are reinforced by an adult playing along).

Customer Review: Candyland - not like the original version
Summary: 4 Stars

Since my children grew up playing Candyland, I was excited to purchase it again as a gift for my two little great nieces. However, I was disappointed when I opened the box to find that the design had been changed. The colored squares were much smaller, and consequently, the "trail" was narrower. The girls had trouble following the trail and would jump forward and backwards and sideways. I think the original version was easier. Still, its a wonderful first game, and I'm glad I purchased it.

Customer Review: My Nephew loves Candyland!
Summary: 5 Stars

Candyland is my nephews favorite game. He has just turned three and can easily play this game as it doesn't require any reading. Candyland helped him learn his colors (the playing cards are color coded) and helped him with his counting (when he'd count to move his player along the board).

I give Candyland 5 stars for educational value: counting and colors learning. 5 stars for fun. 4 for durability: pieces are easily lost, cards are bent easily. Over all Candyland is 5 stars.

Customer Review: Stevey doesn't play well with others
Summary: 3 Stars

This product is tons of fun! The only problem is some children aren't that fun. My kid, the one I bought this friend generator for, isn't responding at all. Everytime I set up a play date for Steve and his friends, he ends up forcing at least one of the losers to eat the candyland pieces. There is a limited amount of cardboard, thankfully, so these things will all end once the neighborhood toddler population has consumed the playing field. If your kid is normal, I'd buy this.

Customer Review: Another Candy Land Alumni - 3 years old is fine!
Summary: 5 Stars

I remember playing with this game when I was almost 3 years old. I was in the hospital for 8 weeks for heart surgery. It was absorbing and fun for sure since I remember playing it there 40 years later. It interested me so much that I'd forget that Mom was not there and that the hospital was so boring and lonely. I'd recommend this for girls who are 3 years old and who like to play quietly. I'm getting the game for my great niece this year; she's three.
