Toys and Games Reviews of Candyland - The World of Sweets Board GameCustomer Review: You don't really HAVE to HAVE Candy Land. Summary: 2 Stars
Of course, everyone had Candy Land, but when our just turned 3 yr old daughter wanted to play, we wanted to run the other way... Boring...., and it is for her now, when after 2 weeks we purchased much more challanging and interesting games. Also, it isn't made well. The game board is not the same size as it was when we were kids, so the playing pieces are too big and overlap the spaces. The cards are not laminated. And, after all the years this game has been around, why are there no children of color on the box/board? I hope they're not counting the brown lump of molasses.
Customer Review: Candyland is a classic Summary: 4 Stars
As avid boardgamer parents, my daughter was turning 3 and I wanted to get some games to start playing with her. Candyland is a classic for a reason. There are a few things I have found that are a little difficult for her. She had trouble with the special cards that move you forward or backward to the special character squares, so I just pulled them out of the deck for now. She has trouble figuring out which way is forward because the path squiggles around the board so much. Overall my daughter really enjoys this game and it's a tolerable game for parents. It's great for learning to take turns.
Customer Review: Great Christmas present Summary: 4 Stars
The little girl that I purchased this game for opened it at our family Christmas party last night, she was thrilled. She has two sisters and I know they will spend many hours of their Christmas hoilday enjoying this game. I played Candy Land as a child . My four children loved playing Candy Land as children. I know that Abby and her sisters will love it too. Children learn to share, to count, to follow directions while playing this game. The game moves along and can be completed in 15 or so minutes so the young children can stay focused on the game to the end.It as great game.
Customer Review: GREAT FOR 4-7 YR OLDS: FUN WITH A LITTLE COMPETITION Summary: 4 Stars
Candyland is one of my kids all-time favorite games, and today's 4 - 6-yr olds are tough customers! They can play without adults, it requires no reading skills, but the older child can now read the different places on the picture cards, and all kids like the competition. I really liked the game when I was a kid (I still like to play with the kids!), and it seems incredible the exact game was around that long ago. It really doesn't go out of style over the years. Families usually have to buy a new one becaue the board and cards are so worn out!
Customer Review: Great memories Summary: 5 Stars
Like many other people, I too played this game as a child and have great memories of teaching my younger brother and little cousins how to play. It incorporates learning the colors and taking turns. This newer version however incorporates more of a story with actual characters to it which was not in my version (I am a child of the 70's) and I found that part to be unnecessary and a bit confusing. This tends to be a good game for 4-5 year olds and I would definately consider it to be a rite of passage that any child learn to appreciate this game.
