Toys and Games Reviews of Candy Land DVD GameCustomer Review: More a commercial than a game Summary: 1 Stars
The underlying games could be fun, but the pacing and DVD controls are terrible. You're forced to wait for 5 min of commercials at the start and you can't fast-forward (FF) or skip them. In the games, the characters talk too long and you can't FF there as well. An adult has to sit there to press the right remote key every two minutes. My kids, 2 and 4, liked the game at first but got bored in 10 min because the pacing is so bad. Very disappointing, especially for the high price.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money on the DVD version! Summary: 1 Stars
I asked my mother to get the DVD Candyland for my 2 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. I thought she and my older daughter (5 years old) could have some fun physically acting out the game. Little did I know how boring and repetitive it actually is. The characters spend too much time talking, explaining things, and waiting for someone (usually me) to push a button on the remote to move things along. I wish I had asked for the basic boardgame.
Customer Review: great idea for a classic kids game! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my 3.5 yr old. She loves it! The game mats are durable, and the dvd is cute. Teaches good listening skills, following directions, and just playing for fun. All I had to do was sit on the couch and hit the remote button as needed, after getting the mats layed out. Works well even if your child is playing alone. I think this game will be a huge hit for the holidays, I am glad I didn't wait til christmas to give it to her.
Customer Review: Great game, easy for kids to play on their own. Summary: 5 Stars
My 3 year old son LOVES this game and I love all the exercise he gets while playing it. There are commericals in the beginning, but he likes to watch them anyway. He can choose one of the 3 games, set up his mats, and press start. There is only 1 button he needs to push when they tell him to (either play or enter), so I dont even have to be in the same room. Its something he can have fun playing by himself or with his cousins.
Customer Review: Not worth the aggravation!!!!! Summary: 3 Stars
My 4 yr old really enjoys this game, but the fact that the parents have to constantly press the remote for the game to continue is the games only real downfall. These gamemakers should realize that a mother has so much more to do in a day besides pressing a button on a remote. And for what you get I think $30 is a ridiculus price, thank goodness I got it for a great price of $[...] in which is all it is worth...
