Toys and Games Reviews of Busy Basics Busy Ball Choo-ChooCustomer Review: Great Toy Summary: 5 StarsI bought this toy for my daughter when she was 6 months old. She is now almost 11 months and it is her favorite toy.
When we bought it for her she could not crawl well and could not get into a sitting position on her own. She really didn't enjoy the train until she got those two skills down, but she always loved playing with the balls! They are the perfect size and weight for her to grab onto.
Now she loves playing with the train. The button is easy to push and she loves the music (She always dances when it starts playing). She loves watching the balls go around too. And trying to grab them before they fall. This train keeps her entertained longer than any other toy she has. It is always a popular toy when we have preschool age kids come to visit too.
She is always trying to stick "creative" things into it. This hasn't caused any problems though because the opening is big enough that it is easy to get stuff out of it.
Also, we have not had any problems with the lightweight build of the balls. They do smash easily, but we have always been able to pop them back into the right shape easily... we don't have a pet so I can't comment on the damage they would do and they have never gotten smashed completely-- that might be a different story.
Fingers can get pinched as the balls go down. We have had that happen a couple of times, but the pinches were not bad and crying over it has never lasted longer than it took to push the button again. My daughter doesn't cry easily though, so if your baby is more sensitive this might not be a good choice.
The music is a little loud. That is the one big drawback. I will say that at least it is not a high-pitch, annoying noise like you get with so many baby toys-- Just too loud.
Great toy overall. I would definitely recommend it.
Customer Review: Busy Ball Choo-Choo vs Busy Ball-Tivity Center Summary: 4 StarsThis was an item I purchased for my 9 month old grandaughter BUT my 3 yr old grandaughter is the one that plays with it! It does have kid-safe control levers on each side of the Choo-choo... one is to control stationary or mobile and the other is to have the balls cycle within the Choo-choo or come out the back.
The levers need a stronger degree of fine motor skills and it does have music that plays so it is a toy that the under 1 yr set can be entertained with and grow into as motor skills develop.
There is a switch underneath to turn the toy on and off and there is a button on the top that activates the toy which a child can easily use. The Choo-choo has a short time it runs once activated then it automatically shuts down... it doesn't just keep running. I wish it ran longer, but that is strictly a matter of opinion/choice, some may prefer the shorter run time.
I bought the Busy Ball-Tivity Center at the same time and the balls can be inter-changed with the Choo-choo...a definite plus!
IMO: Motor-skills wise the Busy Ball-Tivity Center is GREAT to assist in development, there are challenges a child can seek there; with the Choo-choo there are limited challenges for a child, but it is a very cute toy.
FYI---If you could only buy one THE hands-down favorite of both grandchildren is the Busy Ball-Tivity Center!!! Hope this helps you make a more informed purchase.
Customer Review: My son loved the Choo Choo Summary: 4 StarsMy son recieved this as a birthday gift on his first birthday. He loved playing with it for a long time. He loved to grab the balls as the Choo Choo spit them out and then he would put them back in and he would do it over and over again. My son is not a big toy person, but he really did enjoy the Busy Ball Choo Choo and once he learned how to press the button to turn it on, he would press it non-stop. I would recommed this toy for babies and young toddlers.
Customer Review: Not bad Summary: 4 StarsWe bought this toy for our 9 month old after reading all the great reviews. He plays with the train and the balls separately but isn't quite into the ball popping yet. I guess he'll get there. He does like to put the balls inside. The music isn't too bad either. Over all it is a good toy I think, he just needs time with it.
Customer Review: Great Toy Summary: 5 StarsI bought this train for my 8 month old son. He loves to chase the balls around. Its very entertaining for him.
