Toys and Games Reviews of Baby Alive Learns to PottyCustomer Review: HEAVY, Battery pig (6AA), annoying, stopped working! Summary: 1 Stars
This was purchased (what a mistake) for my little girl.
After unrwapping it and loading it full of 6 AA batteries, we tried to get it started. It took a while but we finally got the doll out of "display mode" (huh?) and it began responding (for almost a day). My little girl was excited for almost a day before she was tired of trying to carry thing around (it is VERY heavy for little kids) and trying to "cater" to it. I agree with some previous reviews - get ready for another kid (at least while it still works). It wan't more than 2 days after we opened it that the doll would not function any more (I tried changing the batteries, calling customer service, etc.). I don't know what happened but this heavy annoying battery-hogging doll is now a big expensive paperweight.
This is so NOT worth the 3 hours of play that my daughter got out of the doll before it croaked. Please don't make the same mistake I did.
Customer Review: Toy works well! Summary: 4 Stars
This toy works well, but be careful not to "overfeed" with the water. It leaked all over the sofa. Kind of a pain to flush with water after feeding, but worth it for all the enjoyment my daughter got out of it. We will just be feeding her water from now on, not the food. She loves it and has taken it everywhere since Christmas. My only complaint is the way the doll "works", meaning how the instructions tell you to play with her. You don't just put her right to the potty (which is what my little one wanted to do) there is a certain pattern she follows. The first time she has an "accident" in her diaper and there is not time to get her to the potty, the 2nd time you get a short warning ... and so on. Like real potty training. I guess if you are potty training a little one you could maybe use for teaching? Not sure. But she loves the doll and we are very satisfied.
Customer Review: This is one sick doll Summary: 1 Stars
Baby Alive Learns to PottyThis has got to be the messiest doll ever made. I bought it for my granddaughter and it has caused nothing but stains all over the house. This doll even vomits when her stomach is full. You spend so much time cleaning up after the doll and trying to get the stains out of bowls, doll clothes, child's clothes not to mention carpet. Watch out for the green beans it leaves a permanent stain in the carpet. You wonder if Hasbro ever tested this doll. My granddaughter loves the doll so I can't just put it away. I can't wait for it to break or for her to get sick of it. Only buy this doll if you have hours of time to spend with your child playing with the doll or you have hours of time to clean. It was a good idea just not well thought out.
Customer Review: Get ready for another child! Summary: 1 Stars
This doll is kind of awful. My daughter got one as a gift and she was THRILLED. I hate this thing. I think it's important to realize it REALLY requires as much care and upkeep and cleaning and so on that you may start considering never having another of your own. This doll is VERY time consuming for the parent. The replacements are expensive. My daughter REALLY liked just pretending with the diapers, but they will NOT restick, so buy preemie generic store replacements with a velcro tab. That's my best advice.
For me personally, I'm THROUGH buying diapers, lol! My daughter tired of it quickly, I never bought more food, though I did diapers, because the cleaning is SUCH a pain. I put it in my attic for another time so maybe one day she'll be interested again. She was 5 when she got it. Your child may love it, but you will loathe it.
Customer Review: You people are crazy! Summary: 5 Stars
I dont understand why anybody woud rate this doll less then a 5. This doll is the most amazing doll in the world. She says the cutest things to my daughter. The clean up is a little more then the average doll. But duh! The doll pees and poops. Luckily for me, my daughter is 4 and she understands how to give the doll a water bottle after every feeding. The doll did an accident on a metal chair and my daughter got some wipes and cleaned up the mess. It was very cute because she was talking to her and explaining that she needs to hold it next time. She has different play modes that are very simple to navigate through (hungry, play, potty, nap). She doesnt go to sleep immediately and it is so sweet watching my daughter shush her to bed. VERY good toy for the 4 year old in my house and she cleans up her mess!
