Toys and Games Reviews of The Game of Life Twists & TurnsCustomer Review: This Game ROCKS! Summary: 5 Stars
My son just turned 9 and got this game for Christmas. We played it tonight and it was SO much fun! It had us roaring with laughter at my own terrible fortune in "life." I lost my job, gambled away savings, lost my house and crashed my car! But it was all very fun - and in our next game I turned into a television star - so there you go!
Seriously, this game is very fun and fast moving. And the electronic life-pod stores all of the player info - it makes it easy to manage everything that is going n. I just know we will play this over and over. I would say though - the game is slightly complicated at first - so I would recommend this for ages 9 and up. :)
Customer Review: What A Great Idea! Summary: 5 Stars
Where has electronic banking been all my life? When we first read through the directions and started our first game, I was unsure if I'd ever figure out how to use the little electronic gadget, but by my third turn I was an expert. Not only are the VISA cards incredibly convenient and easy, but the game incorporates a whole bunch of new aspects that make it much more life-like. For example, the better car you buy, the more LIFE Points you accumulate. And if you buy a nice house, it rises in value and you also accumulate LIFE Points. You can also earn promotions in your career, play the lottery, and many more features. I highly suggest this game to anyone who loved the original version.
Customer Review: Beats the "bored" game Summary: 5 Stars
I played the Game of Life board game in my youth, with my children and grandkids, but only rarely, and never twice in a day...we'd drag it out every few years. It was just too long and boring. The kids would drop out, we called them "suicides". Not with this fancy electronic version, we've played back-on-back games and gone whole hog with the longest lifespan. The grandkids are older now, from 13 to 21 but all glad to have "rediscovered" it and the old-fashioned "bored-game" sets in the game closet. I question if kids under 10 would have the patience for even this improved version but even the adults play this with the adolescents.
Customer Review: Training Children to be in Debt Summary: 1 Stars
I really dislike that Hasbro teamed up with Visa.
I want my children to learn something when they play and I think that having the computer do all the mathematics (including hidden interest) is doing them a real disservice.
It's unfair to pretend that Visa doesn't know that my 9 year old is their client in 10 years and I, for one, do not appreciate them targeting my children.
I think that kids and credit cards is a terrible marriage.
So, please, I'll respectfully let Visa know that my kids are not available to them.
We returned ours.
Customer Review: Fun game for the whole family Summary: 5 Stars
I used to love the original Game of Life when I was younger. I had bought the updated version for my family, but it was very hard keeping track of the money in the new version with higher values and life points.
This new game is more interesting because you can choose your own path and cards take the place of pre-printed spaces on the board so each game is different. The electronic money-tracking makes the game go so much faster. You can also choose how many turns you want each player to get so you can control the length of the game.
Fun for adults, teens, and pre-teens.
