I agree with the general consensus of others about this edition. The hard fold-up carrying case is so nice- with drawers to hold the pretty, red curved tile holders and beautiful ebony tiles. The wheels make it turn easily and the raised edges on the game board keep the tiles from sliding. The only thing I think the manufacturer goofed up on was not using the traditionally colored bonus point squares. If you are celebrating 50 years and make a commemorative set- why change it?
Nonetheless, it is a lovely set and I would buy it again!

My husband and I were playing computer games one night and ran across scrabble and even though it was lots of fun, it just wasn't the same as the good ole original board game. We looked here on Amazon and found this Anniversary Edition and although we didn't buy it for that reason, we did buy it for the durability factor and the lazy susan board feature.
We have already played it, just the two of us, about a half dozen times for hours at a time. It is truly a classic and one that ALL children should experience.

We grew up playing with my parent's their old edition with the blue box that spins. When we all grew up and moved out of the house we were sad to leave it. Recently a few of us siblings were looking for a game to play over thankssgiving and came across this edition. It's PERFECT for us. It travels well and the pieces store well. I do wish a score pad was included (even if just a few pages) and the new trays are a tiny bit too short for 9 tile play but it's really perfect for us! This deluxe edition of Scrabble has everything we could want. The board is attractive and the ridges keep the letters in the right spaces. The game swivels easily to the next player. Then when you are done, the letters lift out easily to put away in the velvet pouch. The pouch and letter racks fit conveniently in their built-in storage compartments under the board, and then the board folds up and can be carried easily. But we enjoy the game so much, it usually stays out on the dining table so we can play it all the time.Customer Review: Very Pleased

I am very pleased with this version of Scrabble. It's a favorite game in our household and we have only ever played the standard version until we purchased this one. I love that the gameboard on this one is an actual carrying case and has storage drawers for the pieces. It also has wheels on the bottom of the board/case so you can spin the board while playing, which is a wonderful feature. The board has raised rows so that the letter pieces don't slide around. If you are a scrabble fan, it's definitely worth the money!
