I'm guessing you didn't come here for a review of the game Scrabble itself, unless you've been living on another planet for the last century. Scrabble is great, always one of my favorites, and a highly recommended game for literally everyone. With that said, this is the version you'll buy if you just want a cheap, simple, low budget type to give to your kids or to give as a gift or award for something. There's nothing terrible about it, but there's nothing great there either. The board is flimsy, the tiles don't always match each other, and the material is simply cheap. It will get the job done just fine, but you're getting what you pay for here.Customer Review: Another True Classic Board Game

Even if you're not a fan of crosswords, this is a great game. Not only do players have to try and make words with what is frequenlty a bunch of tiles that only spell something in Martian, but there's the strategizing involved with trying to hit that triple word score!This is a wonderful family game, because it's not just big words that win. It teaches vocabulary and dictionary skills (kids sometimes have to prove that what they just spelled is a word - or not!), and the confidence and pride that kids get from playing a "grown-up" game is without measure. (I remember playing this with my family as a kid, and thinking it was the greatest ever.)

My wife and our friends have been huge Scrabble fans from way back. We were playing a lot of the Scrabble beta app on Facebook, but were getting tired of all the bugs. Plus, a good old-fashioned face to face game can't be beat. This set hasn't changed a bit from the version I played as a kid. This is the no frills version: the board doesn't revolve lazy Susan style and the tile bag is just made of plastic. Other than that, the game materials are high quality. As for game play, if you happen to be that rare person who has never played Scrabble, it is a classic board game and a ton of fun. And yes, it is educational and encourages literacy.Customer Review: An evergreen pastime!

I must have played it a 100 times. But still the charm holds. And no one I know has been able to resist the call of Scrabble. Once the board is opened and the tiles set, even the most indifferent are drawn to it. Its one game that one can never tire of, and every time the game takes a different twist, poses a different challenge. And to think that its educational too! I guess that its the only 'educational' toy that is FUNtastic :) ! My only suggestion would be to include a reuseable scoreboard with the set - it saves the time for hunting for that elusive paper and pen in the midst of a highy tense battle!Customer Review: The best thing since sliced bread

I just love this game...I learned to play the summer the vacation when I was nine years old (I'm 28 now) and I have never stopped. It's fun its educational and I'm now using it to teach my three year old her alphabet and some simple words. This game is suitable for any age. I plan to play until I die. I only wish you could play with more than four people maybe it's time for the makers of Scrabble to look at that giant scrabble for large parties...I've been to many scrabble parties in my time but the biggest comment is that we'd all like to play at the same time on the same board.
