Toys and Games Reviews of Game of Life

Customer Review: Life
Summary: 5 Stars

The Game of Life is a very fun board game. You have to choose whether you want to go to college or start a career, choose your career and salary, get married and so on. This game you can play over and over and it never gets tiring (but nothing really gets tiring to an eleven year old, as myself).
I give it four stars, though, because when you play it it is a bit confusing trying to keep up with pay days and life tiles. Also the board is a little to big. But if you do not feel like getting frustrated, this is not a game for you. But on the occasion you do want to play a long game, play this one.
I really like this game and it has never broken. Oh, also thnere are really small pieces like cars and the little tiny people you put IN the cars, so it's not for kids who are still putting things in there mouth (duh). Otherwise, this is a really entertaing game.

Customer Review: The BEST game EVER!
Summary: 5 Stars

I never played the old version of LIFE, but I was told its much different. If you would like to try the newer version, I suggest you read this review:
On New year's eve we exchange Christmas gift with my cousins since we all celebrate Christmas with our mom's sides of the family. My older cousin Jake received The game of LIFE, and we had to play it immediately. We split up into teams. (which made it easier during decisions.) We stayed up laughing and playing the game in til 11:30! As soon as I got home I put it on my birthday wish list. I (thankfully) received it. One of my other cousins sleep over, after my party and we played it the next morning with my sister and mom, we played and had SO MUCH FUN!!!! I am actually going to play it right now! I suggest this for anyone, and it will make a great game for family night. This was the absolute BEST gift I have ever received.

Customer Review: Life Changes Much like The New Spin on the Game Board
Summary: 3 Stars

After seeing reviews on here i remembered how much i enjoyed this game in my childhood sitting around friends playing this, having a movie on in the background and some chips to go along with it. Great little atmosphere the original held, this one is quite a throw off.

The game board itself took on a much more childish scheme and added multiple
rules non existent and meaningless to older fans. The game still plays out similar, but the new ideals still give me a sour taste.

Overall though it is still arguably fun, it gives anyone a chance to win. The game is luck based in many degrees which gives a new out coming
and winner almost every time.

You can select careers, obtain starter and final homes, and raise a family. The spinner is a little weaker this time around though. Many pitfalls await and many chances.

Customer Review: Even more fun at 40 than it was at 10!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had this game as a kid. Remember stacking the extra kids sideways in the car after it was already full? It seems that there a lot more rules now, though that may be due to ignoring them as a kid. At any rate, since opening it a day ago, my 10-year old daughter and I have played it at least 20 times. Once you play with the rule sheet close at hand, you never need to look at the rules again. Every game seems to have it's own unique feel, and no matter who seems to have fortune on their side, the twists and turns keep everyone on a fairly even footing. AND, dealing with all the cash transactions has helped my daughter bone up on basic math over the vacation. The best part is that she doesn't even know it's helping her! There's even a new built-in contingency for the spinner that seems to come off its track now and then. It's just a swell game on every level!

Customer Review: Disappointed with changes
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this game for my new family for Christmas. This is not at all the Game of Life that I remember playing for countless hours as a child. First of all, my old game had all of the mountains, houses, and spinner permenantly attached to the game board. With the new version, all of these things have to be attached with each setup, which takes about 10-15 minutes and they are easily knocked off the board. Also, the spinner is hard to spin and frequently comes off of its pivot. The cars are less sturdy and the people pegs do not stay in the car so you are constantly having to put the people back in the car. Finally, the rules of the game have gotten more complicated and yet the meaning of the game has become more trivial. I think I will put this in the top of a closet or in a yard sale and go find my old version of the game to play in the future.
