Customer Review: Exceptional Turn Taking Fun

I have used this game in various special education preschool classes over the past 3-4 years and must say that it is one of the most engaging learning-to-take-turn games I have ever encountered. The bright friendly gingerbread pieces are sturdy and easy to understand (four empty colored spaces, obviously missing the four colored pieces). The pieces themselves are thick plastic, durable, of a size that don't fit easily into a small mouth but do fit nicely into small hands. The candy cane pull handle is extremely inviting--making it quite hard to take a turn!--and surprisingly durable. The castle itself is visually stimulating, full of fun colors and a lovely design.
The game itself is quite simple and very enjoyable for the intended age group. The pieces are dropped into the top of the castle at the start of the game. The first player pulls the candy cane handle for a piece to drop out (a most delightful sight and sound is created by the drop) and if the player has that colored shape on his/her gingerbread, it is inserted into the right spot. If the player doesn't have that piece, the piece is dropped back into the top of the castle and the play goes to the next person. It is delightfully unfettered by electronic motions, sounds, gizmos, so that the players concentrate fully on the game itself.
It is an excellent game for learning turn taking, for learning shapes and colors and also for learning the social skill of cheering on friends as they get the right pieces. I expect it to be a staple in classroom and private therapy work for years to come.
