There are alot of mixed reviews here. we have not had this for long, but for four bucks it is fun for my 2yr daughter, made her laugh and kept her entertained SO worth it to me.
The ball we have stays together fine, the hamster turned on by itself inside the ball a couple of times when we put him away on her book shelve, maybe the switch was just a bit sensitive.
The quality surprised me, I would buy this again for four bucks.

This was a Christmas gift for my son, who is 10 and autistic. Because of his disability, he prefers toys that are for a younger age group, so I thought I'd try giving him this.
Honestly, he wasn't all that impressed with it. His younger sisters (6 and 7)however, really loved it. They pretended it was a real pet--trying to "feed" it celery and nuts.
Overall, it's adorable, but not for kids that expect more from toys than just rolling around.

Our school fundraising event had this item as a gift for selling 50 items. My kids are lucky to sell 5. My daughter was devastated as she really wanted this toy. So for Christmas I bought it for her and she loves it! It really is fun running around the house and our dogs sure are entertained by it. It was well worth the $7.95 plus shipping we spent. I have a very happy 8 year old who didn't have to sell $1000 worth of junk to get it! :)Customer Review: Adorable, life-like hamster!

I was amazed at how cute this little hamster is and seems so real rolling around in the ball. It is great, especially for the low price. I know other brands are MUCH more expensive, but I don't see how any other hampster could be better than this one, it is precious! May be my son's favorite present he got for Christmas (even though VERY inexpensive.) I purchased several of these for Xmas 2009. As far as I know, all of the recipients loved their hamsters. I got one for my son (who was 18 mos. in Dec. 2009) but he was so entertained by it. Of course I watched him carefully when he played with it since it's not rated for that young of children.
He is over 2 yrs. old now & still loves to play with it. Not too bad for the price & no messes like a real hampster causes - lol.
