First of all, we bought our hamster at The Cracker Barrel [...].(No it wasn't on clearance.) Secondly, we love him! I saw him and thought he looked fun and thought the kids would get a kick out of him. My 3 year old was terrified of him at first but she loves him now and I'm pretty sure she thinks he's real. My son who is 7 has fun with him too! He makes his way around the whole house and it's just like he's our pet hamster minus the mess and smell! Just a warning though, make sure your toddler knows not to put the hamster on their head. haha!!! My daughters hair got wrapped around the wheels and he was stuck on her head. I bought two of these as Christmas presents for my brother and sister's cats. When they arrived, I took one out and tested it on my dogs, who went crazy for it! Bad: the ball breaks apart really easily when pounced on by a large, enthusiastic puppy. Good: They loved it! I haven't had a chance to try it on my own cats because each time I just walk in the direction of where the dogs know the hamsters are, they think I'm going to get it down for them to play with, and I still haven't had a chance to give them to my brother and sister for Christmas... But these are amazing little things. I'm sure the cats will love them, and probably kids will, too. Very realistic, and a fantastic value!Customer Review: Hamsuta the Happy Hamster

This is the second Hamsuta the Happy Hamster that we purchased. My daughter enjoyed her first so much that when it got malled by our dogs, we decided to purchase another. Hamsuta has been a very entertaining toy for my two-year old daughter and my husband and I as we watch her laugh and giggle with glee. My daughter loves to play with it by herself or with others. Friends have gotten a kick as well. The biggest disappointment is the ball that comes with Hamsuta. It's made of hard plastic and is not very durable. Ours has been dropped one too many times and is now cracked but...we've gotten our money's worth.

I purchased this for my cat to play with and she really liked it, now she's wise to it being non-animal, but $[...]. was well worth the first 4 hours of entertainment. She would stalk, tackle, and kick the hamster (in the ball was preferred to not in the ball). I place the hamster in it's ball in my tub and my cat went to town with it!
Like I said, the initial curiousity has worn off but I still like to turn it on and let it roam about the house, it's actually soothing to me in a way.
I recommend it, great present for kids to young to know the difference from a Zhu Zhu pet.

I bought this to roll around the floor and entertain my cat. She is just not interested in anything that won't move on its own, so I tried this. The toy does roll around the floor, and quite well. If it hits something, it just turns around and goes the other way. The problems are that it makes too much noise - cat just stares and runs away - and the battery dies after about 30 minutes of use. I bought the heavy duty energizer batteries, and the thing just piddles out after 1 or 2 uses. Not very economical (or environmentally friendly). This might be fun for a very small child, but no good for a cat.
