Toys and Games Reviews of Hamusuta the Happy Hamster in BallCustomer Review: Bought for cats, resurrected for kids Summary: 4 Stars
We originally bought Hamusuta for our cats to play with, about 7 years ago. They were mildly interested (but as usual, free stuff like bread ties and paper balls win hands down). So Hamusuta sat on a shelf and then in a closet for a long time, a forgotten cat toy.
So our daughter got a ZhuZhu pet for her birthday and I went looking for Hamusuta. Still works just fine with a new battery! And the girls love how he runs in his ball. He does not, however, work with the ZhuZhu ramp & slide accessory - he can't make it up the ramp or down the slide (but he does slide down the ramp just fine...). ZhuZhu doesn't work in Hamusuta's ball either. But it's great that we now have two hamsters (at least until Christmas) so less fighting over Peachy and the girls love their "new" pet "Mr. Nibbles" too!
Customer Review: Cute! Summary: 5 Stars
gave this to my two boys- age seven and twelve as part of a group of silly gifts I give on the last night of Hannukah. They thought they were great! They both had friends over, who also found them very amusing- the dinner table had a live action keep-the-hamster-on-the-table game ( Luckily, no falls, as I don't know how the plastic would have done.) The boys then let the dogs chase the hamsters and left them to run around the room while they played other games. They commented and made jokes about them all night. No, not educational, but fun and cute. As an added bonus, no screwdriver is needed to put in the battery, so easy for me as well. Very funny little toy, and not so expensive that it will be a big deal to me when they eventually break. ( Or,realistically, when my boys break them.)
Customer Review: Fun toy for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one of these at Cracker Barrel as a road trip treat for my kids. They adore it. They fight over it, so I am ordering another. My daughter is 4.5 years and pretends it is her pet, she pretends to feed it, put it to bed, ect. She likes to use it in the ball, which is a good idea, since it will suck up hair or light weight clothing, like D's princess dresses, but it doesn't ruin them, you just turn it off and it comes right out. My son is 1.5 years and he likes to follow it around, roll it, and carry it. It took him a bit to learn not to throw it, so we now have to tape one side shut, but overall, for a $5.00 toy, I give this high marks. My husband is playing with it now. It is a great alternative to a real hamster and my kids could care less that isn't.
Customer Review: zhu zhu pets Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased two pets for my 8 and 4 year old kids. The first problem was opening one of the pets to put in the batteries. A little hard to see the right way to open since it is just a raised area on the underside and you know how hard it can be to see 'so called' directions that are imprinted on white plastic. The kids enjoyed playing with them. The one other problem was that my daughter got a good chunk of hair (she has mid-length fine hair) pulled out when it got stuck around one of the pets wheels. These wheels go around very fast and there should be some type of guard around the wheels to prevent hair from getting wrapped around them and ripped out. I guess I would say these pets are fine for older kids but keep an eye or don't get them for your younger ones.
Customer Review: Great alternative to ZhuZhu pet ball Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter wanted the ZhuZhu ball for her hamster. Since she was spending her own $$, we sat together & researched the pros & cons on line & discovered Hamusuta in the process. We found the reviews on Hamusuta much more glowing than ZZball. For 1/2 the price of the ZZball, we couldn't resist. It also included another hamster so she now has 2. Good thing, cuz she currently can't find Winky. True, this hamster doesn't make the cute noises that ZZpets do, but it only takes 1 AAA battery.
She is very happy with her new hamster ball. She can turn the hamster on, assemble the ball & leave it going without attending to it, unlike the ZZball. It self corrects when it runs into something. It's very cute & the cats are curious.
