We had several wooden haba toys during my son's infancy. They were all favorites, but his favorite of them all was this one. He loved to suck on the cloth ears. He also loved to suck on the wooden ball "hands". As other reviewers have mentioned concerns about and there are even a couple of reports of the balls detaching and being choking hazards, I also had the same concern. I can report that it did NOT happen with ours, even with months of play and frequent mouthing/sucking on them. But again, I did have the same concern, and I also frequently checked the balls to see that they were still firmly attached. They always were (and still are, even though he's over 2 yrs old now and rarely plays with it anymore). So it's something to be aware of, and the reports of them coming off are disturbing, but I would hope that most of the toys are made well enough that this isn't something that's happening often. Then again, it only takes one time. I just wanted to add my 2 cents and at least state that ours held up wonderfully through lots of use.
