Customer Review: Fun but maybe not for younger baby

My 6-month-old really enjoys when I hold this and move it in front of him, and he'll grab the bottom ring and want to hold it. He's really interested in anything that makes noise right now (the wood hits together when you shake it around), but I think that he is still a bit small for this. He's hit himself in the head with it a few times, and it is a pretty substantial wooden toy. I'm also a bit worried because it does have small pieces. The elastic seems very strong, but if it were to ever snap then he could choke on the beads. Overall, I think that it is very cute and fun for him to play with when I am playing with him. For solo play, however, it's probably better for older babies. We also have the similar but smaller Haba squeak-squeak toy, and it is a better size for him to hold and play with.Customer Review: Fun and Safe

This was just delivered, and my 9 month old son already loves it! It's durable, non toxic, engaging and adorable. I didn't realize it was strung on an elastic cord just looking at it online. You can pull the ends in opposite directions to spread the rings out and then they come back together to make an excellent wooden crash! The only thing I would want them to change is to finish the nose. It doesn't seem to have the same lacquer finish that the head and bottom ring do. When my son puts it in his mouth, it seems to absorb the saliva and change color. I don't foresee this being a problem though. Love that I can hook it to his carseat or stroller easily. Max is not just the baby's favorite, he is the family's favorite! All the older kids love engaging their little brother with this toy. The colors are vibrant, and the clacking sounds are pleasant sounding when you shake it and/or pull on the wooden ring. We bought the blue polka dot clip to go with it, and clipped it on his car seat. Those bright colors keep him engaged and the sound is not annoying like so many other toys. I like being able to clip him anywhere without the worry that we'll lose our precious Haba toy. We love all the Haba toys we've bought so far, and this is one of the favorites in our growing collection.Customer Review: Max is cute!

Max is very cute and makes a nice clacking sound. One thing I didn't like was the fact that his nose doesn't have any lacquer on it, it is just bare wood. I sent back the first Max I received because of that and the second one had the same problem. I am worried that if it gets wet or my daughter gets dirt in the wood fibers, that it won't come out or will rot or something. But, it's still worth the buy.Customer Review: Not safe for babies

This should not be marketed as a rattle for babies. We were impressed with the workmanship when we got this toy but as soon as our baby started playing with it--shaking it and whipping it around--we realized how dangerous it is (for her and for anyone nearby). A few thunks on the head and slaps on the hand later, this toy is now retired to the bottom of a drawer somewhere.... Not for babies!!
