I bought this when my baby was 3 months old. Her grasp was not the best and she wasn't too interested in it. At 4 months, she loved trying to hold it up to look at it (not always successfully). Now at 5 mo, she plays w/ it almost every day. She likes to gum it, pass it from hand to hand, shake it like a tambourine and toss it on the floor so we lower her down to pick it up herself. When we are out, I wear it as a bangle bracelet so it's handy when she gets bored. It has great bright colors and easy to wash. It also makes a pleasant percussive sound when shaken--could be used in a young baby music class.
