I'm not sure teddy bears are educational, but they are fun. This one was listed as under-stuffed in order to be cuddly. I was worried about that when I ordered the bear, but it was perfect. My 1-1/2 year old great nephew thought it was marvelous. As far as durability, I don't know. Haven't heard any complaints from his mother, so it must be holding up. Judging from my great nephew's response, I'd say it was a great gift. OK . . . I would have liked to keep it myself!
