Customer Review: Absolutely wonderful set of dishes!

These dishes rock. Seriously - my daughter has played with them every single day since she got them a week before Christmas. She loves them, and so does her 7-year-old brother (I think he plays with them *almost* as much as she does!).
They are very sturdy and look quite nice. They've been stepped on, moved from our house to grandma's and back, thrown around (literally) and they still look wonderful. They should stand up to years of continual use...and I like that they are made of recycled products and are food-safe (for those little ones who like to actually put real food on their play dishes;). Another bonus? They are made right here in the U.S. I can feel good about letting my kids play with these and I certainly enjoy watching the hours of fun play they've had so far (I think every stuffed animal in the house has had a dinner/tea party with my 2-year-old daughter). Daddy has had his share as well...
I highly recommend this set, as well as the tea set that Green Toys also makes. The dishes are very high-quality and durable, and look quite nice.

My daughter received this set for Christmas and we are so happy with the quality and durability of this set! Both of my kids have been playing with it since she got it, cooking up and serving all sorts of invisible, tasty treats. Everything is included in this great set. I am glad that it includes two pots (but wish the frying pan had a lid too). The eating utensils are my daughter's favorite part. She loves to bring everyone their places settings and then serve us from the pot (a serving spoon would have been another nice touch, but an old one from the kitchen has been working just fine). The size of the items are perfect for her small hands and easy for us to store.
I love that this set is earth friendly and made from a plastic that safe for her to play with. She is still young and those utensils still find their way into her mouth! I will definitely look to buy more items from Green Toys in the future-- wish they made food that went with this set. It seems to be hard to find non-plastic play food that gets good reviews!
Customer Review: Fun toy that had two things a parent may want...

First off, the daughter loves playing with this set. Nice colors, the shapes are clean of the cheap plastic fringe that the molds of other sets can leave behind, and the construction is of unbelievable quality...thick, light pebbled texture for grip, and a good variety of shapes and implements. The frying pan is fun to flip wood food items in like Emiril, and the Dutch oven looks like Le Crueset! Second, as a common sense environmentalist, recycling doesn't work unless there's demand for the stuff made out of recycled goods...so, we gotta put our money where our mouths are. These toys make perfect sense, not only does it put some demand (the $$ reward for communities/business doing the collecting) on a substantial waste stream in the US but it also employs Americans who's kids may be going to school some day with my kid! Our daughter will be getting the sandbox set, the recycling truck and the dump truck for her 2nd birthday...gotta love a business model like this! as others mentioned this company is great, making environmentally friendly toys IN the USA! love that. overall this set is great.
pros:
-packaging is totally different from other toys. you can actually get the item out without having to use knives and scissors. and there are no hazards like twisties or strings. loves that you can just take the items out and recycle the box! it is also nice enough that i have just attached a bow and given as a gift, saved $ on wrapping paper and saved a tree!
-size is easy for kids to handle
-colors are pleasing and gender neutral
-food safe
-great for imaginations
cons:
-i would have paid more if it came with a pitcher, drinking glasses, spatula, and/or tea saucers. just think it would have completed the set.
-my fry pan was a little deformed but doesn't interfere with play
other than that it is an awesome set.
Customer Review: Wish I'd got different sets

I mistakenly thought this set was a combination of the dish set and the chef set but it's not. It has all of the dish set but only the pot and pan from the chef set, so there are no utensils for cooking. If I were buying again I would get the two seperate sets. The pieces are all quite small (especially the flatware) and the forks are bizarre looking in that they have 5 prongs. They also have sharper corners than I feel comfortable given to my daughter - who is under the age recommendation, I should add.
Of course, I love that this is made out of recycled plastic and I will be looking for Green Toys in the future. However, I only gave 3 stars because it is expensive and if it weren't made out of recycled plastic I really don't think it would have all these 5 star reviews because it is not that great. So it gets a "could try harder" grade. I am still glad I bought it, but only for the green factor.
