I bought this for my daughter because she had been begging me for one. I wish I had done some homework on it first.
Pros:
1. The dish that you put the cupcake batter in for the microwave works really well. As promised, the cupcake is completely cooked in 30 seconds.
2. The measuring spoon is handy and eliminates digging in drawers for a tiny measure spoon.
3. I only paid $9.99 for it, so not a total loss.
Cons:
Good heavens, where to begin....
1. The whole unit that is used to frost the cupcake is a total waste of space and money. Seriously, it's junk. The whole process of filling the tube with frosting, then inserting and clipping it into the main unit takes more time than it does to frost the cupcake.
2. The cupcake and frosting mixes taste pretty bad. I wasn't expecting truly gourmet taste, but how hard is it to make it taste as decent as a cheap cake mix??
3. Messy, messy, messy! Too much work for one little cupcake. \
4. Refills are way, way overpriced. $12.99??? I can buy 12 boxed cake mixes for that price.
I believe we will toss out the main piece and just use the pieces for baking the cupcake and frost them manually. Once we run out of cupcake and frosting mixes, the rest of the set is going into the garbage as well. If I would have paid full retail for this, I would have packed it back up and demanded a refund.
