Toys and Games Reviews of Gamewright Hisss Card Game

Customer Review: Colorful fun for the whole family!
Summary: 5 Stars

We really enjoy this game! The cards are very colorful and thick (think durability), and the game is simple enough, but can have endless variations. The cards have either cute snake heads, or tails in a single color. The middle sections of the snake have two bright colors. You take turns each picking a card from the fanned pile, and try to build snakes by matching up the colors. The person who completes the snake (adding the last head or tail) wins it, and slides it to their "snake pit" while making a HISSS. There are two "rainbow" wild cards.

My kids love this even more than UNO, and we have created a version we call "worms or two headed snakes" that they think is hysterical. They are 4 and 6 years old, and have been playing this for a year. They are learning how to be good sports, especially when someone else gets to collect the 22 card snake we all wanted to win. We all cheer for the person who gets creative and combines snakes. I can see this being good for the preschool set learning their colors as well.

If you are looking for a good quick simple and entertaining family game, HISSS would be a great choice. We love it : )

Customer Review: Fun puzzle game!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

They discribe this as a card game, but you don't have to hold the cards in your hand, you just fan the entire pile out across the floor and take turns picking a card from the pile, And the peices are heavy like puzzle peices, not thin like cards.
You spread out the cards on the floor, picture down. Take turns picking a card. If the card doesn't match any of the snakes that are on the floor then you just set it down to start a new snake. Each snake must have a head, tail and atleast one middle section. The more peices you get on the snake the better, but the initial object to the game is to form the most snakes and then move it over to you side of the floor(the snake pit). If there is a tie in the number of snakes, then the longest snake wins.

This game is appropriate for ages 3 and up. This is a fairly simple game. I would say most 7 yr old and older would find it boring unless playing with a younger child.
We have two sets, so we can make longer snakes.
Need to play this game on the floor.

Customer Review: Many years later, the kids still love it......
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros:

This game came into our house about 3-4 years ago, and it's been a constant favourite ever since. Simple and fun to play, my kids really enjoy it. For the fun it's given, it's a big 5 stars. For the price asked by Amazon, it truly is a bargain.

Cons:
While there is some attention needed to play, there is no strategy; it's really all about luck. Game-wise, it's very much lacking for more sophisticated thought.

The cards are made out of, well, card. And many years later they are looking ragged -I think if the game came as wooden or plastic tiles (though to accommodate the number of tiles I wonder if that is even feasible) it would be even better. Having said that, the low price allows for easy replacement.

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding, and even years later, it is still played.

Customer Review: great game for all ages
Summary: 5 Stars

I just bought this game today. My 8 year old daughter and I broke it out and just sat in the back of the van and played it, then my 14 year old son and 15 year old daughter joined in. We all love it.

This game is a lot like dominoes in matching, but instead of matching number of dots, it is color, which is great for very young children.

The cards are very thick and durable, which is also great for the little ones.

You build snakes by matching a head and least one middle section and a tail. If you are the one who completes a snake you keep it and whoever has the most cards at the end wins.

This is a simple and fun game, easy to play and learn. It also does not take a long time to play which is a plus for those with young children.

This game if definitely a winner!

Customer Review: Hisss is tons of fun
Summary: 5 Stars

we LOVE this game! we've probably played it 40 times since Christmas. I have 4 and 5 yo sons. They love being able to make really long colorful snakes and the "wild" rainbow pieces really make them excited. We practice counting, colors, and the "s" sound by saying "hisss" every time a snake has been connected. My boys have a speech delay and the s sound is difficult for them so this is a really great fun way to practice it too.
I really love how sturdy the game box and the game cards are. This can last a long time.Gamewright Hisss Card Game, the Colorful Snake-Making Card Game
