Toys and Games Reviews of Gazillion Bubble Machine

Customer Review: Not as pictured, which is a good thing
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this so that I could try blowing fog bubbles using a fog machine I already purchased. It actually works a lot better than I expected and produces a ton more bubbles than I was expecting. I did NOT recieve the product pictured. I either received a newer or older model, I am not sure, but it seems to be better than the one shown. The battery compartment seems to be reasonably well sealed and on the top of the unit, where there is no way it could get wet. Also, there is no pump of any kind. It uses gravity to feed the solution into the machine. I can't really see this one having the same problems as what I have heard unless it is just a piece of junk.

And now, the cons: My biggest problem with the machine is the way that it gets solution. In the model I received you invert the solution bottle and place it on the machine. It then uses gravity to fill the reservoir as needed. Cool in concept, but in practice is tends to spill more than I would like. Also, if you so much as touch the machine or think about having it on a surface that isn't completely level it will spill fluid through two small holes in the front. I believe they are there to prevent you from overfilling the machine and getting solution inside the works, but in practice they are poorly designed and are just there to spill solution.

This bubble machine actually produces too many bubbles for my small apartment so I am going to try watering down the solution in hopes of decreasing yield.

Customer Review: Bubbles Are Fun and Educational
Summary: 5 Stars

My grandson's daddy showed him the switch and told him to push it. My grandson became so excited at the incredible sight of the bubbles filling the room he could do nothing but stand there speachless. I have never seen him so excited over anything! He finally started running through the bubbles and trying to catch or pop them so I got some wonderful pictures!

I have read several reviews on bubble toys from people who say they are not educational. I do not agree with that opinion. I taugh older children for most of my 30 years in teaching, but for 2 years after school, I worked with developmentally delayed babies for which I had to attend training by a nurse, special education teacher, physical therapist, and occupational therapist. At the end of my training my supervisor handed me a bottle of children's soap for bubbles. She said,"This is your most important tool."

I didn't understand at first, but I soon learned. Bubbles facinate babies and young children waking their senses to learn about other things. For instance, I taught a 3 year old to swim by using bubbles to make him forget that he was afraid of the water. Using bubbles, you as a teacher, parent, or grand parent are only limited by your own imagination and creativity.

Customer Review: Tons of bubbles!!
Summary: 5 Stars

As I am sure most children do, both of my children LOVE bubbles. They constantly want bubbles blown for them, as they are still a little young to do it themselves. When we go outside to play all they want to do is chase bubbles. Needless to say I was getting very tired of blowing bubbles, not to mention a little light headed. We had tried some of the other bubble blowers and had not been impressed. They either spilled all over or were too hard for the kids to operate. I was a little unsure of purchasing this product based on the reviews about it quiting after not so many uses. I gave in and bought it anyway and decided it would last as long as it lasted. I must say we have not had one problem with it. We follow the cleaning instructions each time we use it and we make sure we don't overfill it. The cleaning process is really quite simple and not a big deal to do. The kids love it and as the name implies it makes a gazillion bubbles. It has provided us with hours of summer fun. I would recommend this bubble blower to anyone who is tired of blowing bubbles themselves and is looking for an easy way to give the kids all the bubbles they are looking for. Just follow the simple care instructions and I don't think you would have a problem. Have Fun!

Customer Review: It's great after you fix the power switch
Summary: 2 Stars

Stopped working after one (fun) use. The problem is a POS electrical switch used to turn it off and on. This switch stops working if you get it wet (due to corrosion).

So...here's what worked for me:
1) remove the batteries and the battery compartment. They use a triangle drive for the screws, so...I roughly modified a square drive with a belt sander...doesn't need to be pretty, just to fit...doesn't take much torque to remove
2) Cut the wires to the crap switch, pull it out, and send it to the mfg with an impolite note...maybe they'll consider fixing their otherwise good product, and not just shipping junk that goes to the landfill after a few uses....or maybe they just don't have time for such trivia.
3) Strip the insulation back on the two wires a bit, and if you have a soldering iron, you can solder on small hooks made from copper wire. If you don't have a solder iron....no worries.
4) push the two stripped wires (formerly connected to the switch) out the switch hole, and then put the battery compartment back in...and put in the triangle screws.
5) Now it should work, if you hook the two wires together, and unhook when you're done.

I've had no problems since

Customer Review: Works great - Kids LOVE it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this machine for my son's 5th birthday party. The kids LOVED it when I brought it out. They had almost as much fun with this than they did with the jumper I rented! It was perfect for the littler ones to play with. I read that if you don't wash it out that the bubble solution could ruin the battery compartment. I was worried about this but now that I have it I can't see how the solution could possibly get into the batteries unless you stored it full of solution while upside down. They must have redesigned the product because I don't see any problems with how it is made or how it works. It's very easy to maintain. I can't say how long it will last but I think I have already gotten my money out of it and it doesn't seem like it will break any time soon.

The only negative is that it EATS bubble solution. I got the giant 64 oz refill and we went through most of it at the party and we didn't even have it running the whole time. The small container of bubble solution that it comes with (that you need to refill) runs empty in about 10-15 minutes. I still think it's worth it. The kids seriously thought it was the coolest thing and it added a really cool kid-like atmosphere to the birthday party.
