We were very excited to get these ropes. BUT, they are extremely brittle, even after having been softened in the sun as suggested by the manufacturer. Each of the ropes split within the first two days of use, in one case scratching the leg of the jumper. I would NOT buy these ropes again.Customer Review: Broke on first use

My girls love watching double dutch and were excited to try it when they got these ropes as a gift. It broke on the first day after only 6 times trying the ropes. My students played with this jump rope at recess for the very first time and one of the handles fell off. We tied the rubbery rope as best we could around the handle so they could use it again. Hard plastic ropes were very "kinked" because of poor packaging. One rope broke -- split right in half -- the first time my daughter played with it.
