Toys and Games Reviews of What's in Ned's Head?Customer Review: Worth the money Summary: 5 Stars
I chose to purchase "What's In Ned's Head" after a friend raved about how much her kids(ages 4, 7) liked it. I found Amazon.com very helpful with having the best deal(and I DO compare!)and several reviews to read which helped to guide me in my decision. My 6 year old really enjoys it, my 3 year old was able to feel & find hidden objects too, but he doesn't quite appreciate the "lost lunch"(vomit) or "dirty diaper" just yet. We have fun playing and my 6 year old loves the extra cards so she can create her own itmes for finding. Fun game, sturdy, easily foldable, big sized head for a few arms to enter & grab. Geared for 3 or 4-7 year olds I'd say. My 9 year old thought it was cool but too easy most times. We will continue to play it on family game nights. Also, this game has received Family Fun's Toy of the year award in 2003.
Customer Review: Ned's Head: Definately Educational Summary: 4 Stars
As a professional nanny, I've seen every non-traditional "board game" out there, and this one is A GREAT game for the little ones.
If you've got a child with autism or tactile issues, this game is a nice one-goal recognition activity that doesn't have to be over stimulating. Also a great skill builder for the child who can never find that one thing thats right in front of him.
Rules are easily amended. Not everyone has to reach in at once: You can play with a kitchen timer instead, or just allow the child to discover. Also, there doesn't have to be a winner for it to be engaging and fun.
If you're trying to judge the life of this game for your family, I would say this is a good game for the 3-7yo, and was just as challenging for me my first time as the kindergartner.
Customer Review: Not as cool as it looks.... Summary: 1 Stars
The poor quality of craftsmanship really detracts from the possibility of fun with this game. It is just weird enough to be something the whole family wanted to play with. We were disappointed in the following: Ned's head is polyester stretched over a flimsy metal frame. The fiber filling comes out through the shoddy seamwork. The items one is supposed to "find" in Ned's head are beyond cheap: the disgustingly cool looking cotton swab completely fell apart with the first round of the game; the plastic screw is hollow and came crushed; "the vomit doesn't even have any brown chunks in it!", exclaimed my daughter. All in all, we were completely disappointed in this game as the potential was definitely there. Play it once and stash it or convert it into a mask for next Halloween's trick or treating!
Customer Review: Ned's head a little dissappointing Summary: 2 Stars
I was a bit dissappointed with the head as it appears to have some stuffing in the picture, but is basically just fabric over a frame in reality. I imagined a loosely stuffed head that would require some searching for the items, however, once the game has been played it is pretty easy to find the piece by feeling around and choosing what to take out. I purchased this for my 5 year old nephew, and he had the hang of it in about 30 mins of play. The pieces while they sound gruesome, (ie. an icky tooth, and a lab rat) are in fact hard plastic, I think it would have been better if there was differences in the materials some gooey and softer ones that felt more yucky so that kids would have more fun playing, like if it was fun just putting your hand in the head to search.
Customer Review: In no way educational, but FUN nevertheless! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my 3.5 year old daughter and 9.5 year old niece, and the game was a hit! It's really funny to see their reactions when they draw a card!
There's gross pieces that you stick inside Ned's Head, such as a dirty diaper, bird poop with a worm, different insects, 'smelly' sock, vomit, etc... and theirs cards that match the pieces. You draw a card and have to search for THAT piece inside Ned's Head... either via his ears or his nose. It's pretty funny to see the kids' reactions and makes for lots of laughs!
Although this game isn't educational at all, it's still a lot of fun. I enjoy educational games as much as the next person, but sometimes you need those "pointless" games :)
