I got this toy for my children many years ago (30?), and they loved it. So did Grandma, Aunts, Uncles, Mom and Dad. This year I decided to buy some toys for the adults' entertainment since we don't have any small children in our family at this time. I had a visual of "Grandma" playing this game, so I started looking for it and found it on Amazon.com. So, we all became children again, and Grandma (now 83) had so much fun beating everyone.... and beating Grandma was "THE" challenge for everyone. We're organizing a Gnip Gnop tournament for our next family get-together.
PS: If you want a quiet toy, don't buy this one. If you want noise, lots of cheering, clapping, booing, jumping up and down...this might be the toy for you.
Description of Gnip Gnop
Gnip Gnop is ball flying, button smashing action! In this classic skill and action game, players try to be the first to get all their colored balls on their opponents side of the court by shooting them through the holes in the center. Game includes a break-down game board and six balls.This retro tabletop game, reincarnated from the early 1970s, is making a comeback to a new generation. A sort of table tennis with a twist, Gnip Gnop has a plastic court that is a bit flimsy but requires much less room than a ping-pong table. The rules of play are simple: Each player starts with six balls. Players must smash the three buttons in front of them to launch balls through the three hoops onto the other side of the court. The object of the game is to get all six balls on the opponent?s court. The button smashing is a great way to get out frustrations at the end of a hectic day. Beyond that, there?s little more to the game and, it?s uncertain whether this classic can compete with the video game offerings of the new millennium. It?s possible that this may appeal more to 70s-era parents who are nostalgic for reminders of their youth. --Cristina Vaamonde
