Toys and Games Reviews of Front Porch Classics - Liar's DiceCustomer Review: Not as pictured, but still great! Summary: 4 Stars
Liar's Dice is a fantastic game that can be played with up to 4 people. I purchased this game for a friend after we played it with two of the actors at the MD Renaissance Festival over lunch. The game doesn't take up much space and it can be played anywhere where there is a flat surface. The point of the game is to decide how many of dice of a particular face value are on the table at a given time and then determine who is bluffing and who actually has the dice to back up their claim.
The rounds are short and it can easily be adjusted for 'house rules' if you don't like the rules that come with it.
The game you see pictured is not actually how the game comes. When we opened the container for the game we played, 2 of the dice were poorly inked and the cups were the imitation-clay version that look like small cups. The ones pictured in the image here look much better. The cups we got fit inside each other so that they are easy for transport and storage, which is really the only difference.
Even though it was not as pictured, we loved the game and the inconsistency of the image did not detract from the fun we have playing the game.
Customer Review: Boring, Uncreative Gameply Summary: 1 Stars
Liar's Dice is a pretty straightforward game. Each player rolls a set of dice, conceals his or her roll from the others, and makes a bid as to outcome of the total roll. Each subsequent bid has to be higher than the previous; or, alternatively, a player can challenge another's bid. If a person's bid is challenged and proven false, he or she loses a die. The goal of the game is to be the last person to lose all your dice.
The rules make for a frustrating and unsatisfactory game in which the player doesn't really feel in control of what is happening. If you do the math, counting the dice total and the probability of any particular face appearing, you realize that it's not very hard to figure out whether a person is lying or not. But since each player can only bid up or challenge another's bid, gameplay becomes a fairly mundane and uncreative task of knowing when a person's bid is mathematically unlikely.
Customer Review: Not what you get Summary: 1 Stars
After receiving the product and opening it I found that it was not quite what they had pictured in the advertisement. First the shakers look like something a 6 year old made in art class. They look more like a clay change holder then a dice shaker. where as the picture look to me like standard 3 inch oval shakers. Then their are dice themselves they are so small that the 6 side is almost completely blacked out with dots. The only cool thing about this game is the giant Dice carrying case thing.
Customer Review: Love this game Summary: 4 Stars
Lots of fun for the whole family. Even the little ones enjoy this. I bought this game for my own family. The wife and kids went to a friends house, who liked it so much they kept it! So of course I immediately bought another one. Liar's Dice was popularized in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but it has nothing really to do with pirates or movies. It's just a dice game. Easier for the little ones to play than poker. Much fun. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: LOVE this game!! Summary: 5 Stars
How cute is this? This is a VERY fun game in an adorable container. It's the perfect gift! I've purchased about 6 of them to give to people and everyone loves it. We play it with our family at get togethers - perfect for kids as young as 8 years old to adults. It only comes with 4 sets of dice/cups, but you can get some dice from other games to add to the fun. Great gift idea and reasonably priced from Amazon!
