Toys and Games Reviews of Front Porch Classics Dread Pirate Bookshelf GameCustomer Review: Fun Game for All Summary: 5 Stars
I usually hate games like this such as Settlers, Risk, etc. But this game was absolutely wonderful! My friends and I had an amazing time playing this game. It was so much fun. The game has a little something for everyone. The set-up is very cool, cloth gameboard, nice and sturdy game pieces. You also learn sweet pirate facts in the Lore and More on the cards. It is easy to understand and play, not too complicated. It is fun, because there is a lot of chance (dice determines a lot) and you can go from having no money to dominating the board. Very fun, I would recommend it to anyone.
Customer Review: Awesome game Summary: 5 Stars
My kids loved this game. They especially loved trying to beat their dad!!! We loved the metal ships and dubloons as well as the jewels (all seemed very durable for kids). It's fun to have a game with unique game pieces. The pirate flag was also the most coveted piece in the game (although I can see this being the least durable and first broken piece if you're not extremely careful) A fun family game that requires strategy and thought. Beware though it does bring out the true pirate, competitive spirit in your family :-).
Customer Review: Somewhat over-rated. Summary: 3 Stars
Agree with the reviews about the durability/quality of the gameand the disorganization of the rule book. We've played it 4 times and we keep having to refer back to the rule book, and usually discover we've been playing wrong. This game would benefit if there was a condensed copy of the rules for each player. It takes about an hour to play a game. It's been fun to play this game after a "Shipwreck" themed dinner.
Customer Review: Dread Pirate Summary: 3 Stars
The game is very well made and fun to play, however the outside of the box indicates that it is for 2-4 players. The instructions say that it is a game for 4 players. We only have 3 in our household and could not complete all the moves on the game board with less than 4 players. There was no modification in game rules to accomodate less than 4 players.
Customer Review: Great game to play with at least 2 players. Summary: 5 Stars
This was a fun game and learning about Pirates and sailing was a fun part of the game. Loved the realism of the playing pieces and the rules are more like guidelines anyway so it was fun to make our own rules as we went along! :>) It says you can play with 2 players but more would be a lot more enjoyable. Rules can be bent to accomodate 2 players though!
