Customer Review: DON'T BUY THIS ONE

We bought this a while back as we thought it would be a great product to use in the grocery store with our youngest child. We quickly learned that it was not.
It is very hard to get on the shopping cart because one side springs off while you are trying to get the other side on. NOT very convenient when you have an 18 month old you are trying to get situated and a 4 & 6 year old trying to take off in the store.
The leg holes are entirely TOO BIG. My child's legs would touch the cart's bars & he would try to reach down and play with the metal. This totaly does not help me in trying to prevent my child from being in contact with the nasty germs on the shopping cart.
Lastly, the little tote bag that comes with this is a joke. It is next to impossible to get the Floppy Seat in the bag when you want to pack it up.
I wish I had done more research before buying this one as I have since spoken with other moms who have the same complaints with this product.
My advice, DON'T BUY THIS ONE. Do your homework & look around as there are many others out there that I am sure are way better than this one.

We received a Floppy Seat as a gift nearly three years ago after the birth of our oldest daughter. When she was too big for her carrier-car seat, I began using the floppy seat whenever we went shopping and used a shopping cart.It was easy to use, and it gave me the satisfaction in knowing that my baby had a nicely padded seat and I didn't need to worry about her picking up germs from the shopping cart handle and seat area. She was a "chewer" and I know the straps on the cart would have been extremely tempting for her (and those can be pretty nasty when other kids have chewed on them!)
I received comments constantly when we were out and about. I was thrilled to see this product is now available at Babies R Us.
It is very easy to wash, and I like the fact that it is very versatile and fits any size shopping cart from very small ones to the wider ones at places like Costco. I now have a 10-month old daughter and she loves using the Floppy Seat. I can even put her in it in the Costco shopping cart and put her big sister next to her (outside the Floppy) without any problems.
I highly recommend this product.

This is the greatest thing. Why put a child in dirty grocery cart or worse, a high chair at a restaurant probably covered in food and germs? I do have one problem with it, but it may be only an isolated thing. The grocery carts at my local grocery store place ads on the seat back of the child seat. The are encased in a plastic plate and the child's back would be against it. When I try to put the strap of the Floppy Seat around it, the strap does not fit around my son preventing me from keeping him safe. He is very thin, so it's not even that his size is an issue. So, I wrote the company and they said they don't have a solution to this issue, but hope to someday soon. Also when I said I don't feel safe putting my son in the seat when I can't attach it and all they said was "yes, you have to strap the child in" Uh... yeah I know. So, not the greatest support there especially since I paid good money for it, but I do get use out of it elsewhere. I would still invest the money had I known I would have an issue, but thought I would mention it in case others have the same situation and it might be a deciding factorCustomer Review: Lasted through hundreds of washings

My wife purchased this shopping cart cover when our daugher started sitting up on her own (7 months) and we only retired it last month (18 months later). Initially I thought, "here's another one of those high cost throwaway baby items." Based on our positive experience with this item, I can honestly say that I would highly recommend this cover for anyone with a child under 2 years old.
We were extremely pleased with the durability of the cover. This cover has been washed hundreds of times. Our habit was to wash the cover whenever we returned home from shopping or eating out. Although the cover has faded quite a bit, it has held up extremely well. No pulled threads, no tears, etc.
This shopping cart cover became a hit for us because it softened bumps when our daughter occasionally tried to turn around, stand up, or just lost her balance while sitting in the shopping cart. It also provided a physical germ barrier from shopping carts and restaurant high chairs. The fact that it was machine washable and held up so well makes it a highly recommended item.

Of course children should be protected from dirt and grime, but this is just overprotection. My daughter has, despite a watchful eye, managed to lick shopping cart handles, put lint in her mouth, eat leaves and various other things. None of these incidents have caused any ill effects. She is rarely sick and I think that is partly because she HAS been exposed to bacteria.
The current trend in overprotection from germs and antibacterial soap mania can ultimately be harmful to children. Some exposure to germs is a good thing, as it builds up their immune systems. Antibacterial soaps simply encourage the bacteria to mutate into resistant strains, and then what will we do?
Let the kids become dirty now and then. It's part of being kids. Exploring the world and getting [...]all over yourself is part of a child's development process. Just make sure their hands are washed before meals and clean them up every so often.
Or are you telling you never came home with scuffed knees, bruises and covered in mud when you were a kid? Remember how much fun that was?
