Toys and Games Reviews of Floppy Seat Shopping Cart CoverCustomer Review: It may be the original, but newer products are better! Summary: 1 Stars
I bought the Floppy Seat when I realized that my teething baby girl was chewing on everything -- including the disgusting shopping cart handle! Unfortunately the Floppy Seat drove me nuts. It was hard to unpack and install (and definitely not possible one-handed), it didn't attach to the shopping cart (scary thought when shopping with an active toddler), and it was even harder to repack into the "convenient" built-in bag (like stuffing a sausage casing by hand). I also wasn't fond of the garish fabric.
After doing some research, I returned this product and purchased a Buggy Bagg. It was more expensive but completely worth it -- easier to use one-handed (and it really IS possible to use this product one-handed!), easier to take around (like a real tote), more customizable with its many available fabrics, more convenient (with better pockets, toy loops and even a pillow) and, most importantly, much more safe (with attachments for my baby girl and to the shopping cart). There is even a two-child version. Since using my Buggy Bagg I have had many moms and grandmas approach me saying, "Ooh, I wish I knew a shopping cart cover like THAT was available when I bought mine!"
For all of the reasons I would recommend the Buggy Bagg, I would have to not recommend the Floppy Seat. The Floppy Seat may be the original but newer products are better!
Customer Review: Choose this over the Buggy Bag Summary: 5 Stars
I've had a Floppy Seat that I've been using for 13 months now and I absolutely love it but saw the reviews that mention the Buggy Bagg and wanted to address them. A friend of mine bought the Buggy Bag and told me I could try it out since I saw good reviews for it here. It was a little easier to get on the cart but other than that it wasn't very impressive. The Buggy Bagg has too many useless pockets that just take up space and my friend said she's rarely used the pillow and when she tried her baby either moved off the pillow or tried to throw it out of the cart. I mean you're using this item for shopping and eating out, not for day long excursions. Also, we travel a lot and take the Floppy Seat with us (there are germs on vacation too). It's not easy to pack (I don't put it in it's bag, I just lay it as flat as I can) and the Buggy Bagg would be even harder to get into a suitcase. The Floppy Seat is amazing, I have absolutely no complaints. Yes, a product like this does seem like "fluff" and when we bought it my husband said we'd probably never use it but is great. In fact, the greeters at Wal-Mart here call my son "the Cadillac Kid" because they said he has the most comfortable ride they've ever seen. After 13 months of using it, it still looks like new and I would say it's a definate "must have".
Customer Review: Worth the price Summary: 5 Stars
I have three kids and this is the second cart cover I've owned. The first one was terrible. I probably didn't use it more than a couple of times. This one, I wish I had this the whole time, but I don't think it existed until after child 2 or 3 was born. What makes this one special is that it is everything in one. When it's not in use, it converts itself back into a bag with handles. It's all one piece unless you count the belt on it, but it stays attached all the time. The one I had before was not one piece and didn't wrap up into one neat package in between uses. In fact, I think it had two or three parts of it and they always got separated from one another.
The price is higher than I think it should be, but it is worth it as I've seen no other as easy to use and in one piece. The material quality is excellent. The colors are fine with me, but I am sure people would like more choices. It completely covers the area where the child sits in the shopping cart. Others I've seen didn't do this. Needless to say, unless you never take your child shopping with you, it's a great item to have and will get used.
I saw one creative mother use the cover as a blanket with her baby on top and the material wrapped around the baby like a lightweight bunting.
Customer Review: WE LOVE THIS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this over 2 years ago for my son, who was just about 6 months old at the time. He was sitting up in shopping carts, but they were always cold ( It was winter time ) and uncomfortable for him to lean on...not to mention the *germs* on those carts!! I saw a woman shopping with her baby one afternoon & I asked her where she bought hers. At the time they were only available online through the supplier or at a handful of boutiques in the country. I paid $49.99 plus $10 shipping from the retailer over 2 years ago for mine & it did not come with the great "tote" carry case look that they are selling here today. I can't even believe that a National chain such as Babies R Us is carrying this now! Nonetheless, it was the BEST $59.99 I ever spent! People stop us EVERY time we are in a store with this Floppy Seat. No exaggeration. EVERY time!! So~ get ready to tell everyone where you bought it! They will flock to you like crazy when they see your little one all cozy and comfy in the thickly padded Floppy Seat! It is honestly the greatest gift I treated our son to. We have another baby on the way now & I am looking forward to using it with her for years to come too! BUY THIS! You will be so happy & so will your little angel!! 5 STARS!!
Customer Review: You wouldn't buy a stroller without a 5 point harness, so why would you buy this? Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this for my oldest dd before she was born. I used it a few times from 6 to 9 months until she was able to stand up, which she did. There is only a little lap belt, not a five point harness. She almost fell out. So I purchased a different car seat cover with a five point harness (Shop n Dine) that didn't neccesarily cover the whole seat (it covers a lot of it though, and it kept her in)
Then I tried the Floppy again with my second dd. AT 12 months she actually stood up and fell out of the shopping cart with Floppy in it. I pulled the belt as tight as I could and I was no more than two feet away. She needed a CT scan of her head at the hospital. I felt so guilty because I did not use the 5 point harness one.
Of course you should be germ phobic, but it is much more likely for a child of this age to get hurt or killed from a fall, than killed from a germ. I'm going with safety. I would never dream of purchasing a stroller without a 5 point harness, and that's much closer to the ground. Why put your kid up so high without being properly secured? The little lap belt will not keep active children in.
This would be perfect if it had a five point harness.
