I think the updates on this classic toy are great but my complaint is that the farmer's voice, animal sounds and songs are too quiet and often cannot be heard over the spinning of the pointer. I bought it when my daughter was 12 months and of course at that age she could not pull the handle on her own. Now at 19 months she can move the pointer to the animal she wants to hear about and pull the handle. The handle must be pushed all the way down before it will work. Also don't spend an outrageous amount for the product, you can get directly from Fisher Price for a normal price.Customer Review: The farmer says

My daughter got this for her 1st birthday. She really likes to play with it as long as someone is helping her pull down the handle. it is a little tough for her to do by herself.
She can already recognize most of the animals. If I ask her to show me where the dog is for instance, she can point to the dog. So, I would say it helps with recognition of animals and objects but it is not something I would put in an educational toy category.
I had one of these when I was a kid. Fisher price has come a long way with this toy!!

I had a See N Say when I was little and I think it is a classic toy for any kid. So of course when I had my baby boy I bought him one. I really like the new design. It is smaller and fits in little hands easier. My song loves 'flipping' the pages to hear the different animal sounds. The box says 18 months and up, but I bought it for my son at 6 months. I help him pull the lever and he loves to hear the sounds the animals make. I didn't buy this toy from Amazon though, I got it at my local store and it was a few dollars cheaper. Well, the item got to me really quick. That's great for Toyzz. But OH MAN! I just threw away 30 bucks. The quality is not at ALL what you'd expect from FisherPrice. I can't believe they actually let this piece of plastic garbage get out of the factory! You can hardly understand what the farmer is saying, it's very warbled. The sound is atrocious. All you can hear is a vague representation of the animal the pointer is pointing to. I grew up with the original and I am saddened to learn this is what has taken it's place. My sons, now in their late 20's all played with the old see n say and loved it. The new one isn't of the same quality. The volume is poor and the voice is hard to understand at times. The random spin is hardly random as it seems to land on the same two animal pictures over and over. I realize that the new design is supposed to be better however it isn't. I would purchase one of the old pull string models over the new one. My 18 month old granddaughter played with this one time and got bored. I feel it was a waste of money.
