Toys and Games Reviews of Spin & Spill Cement Truck

Customer Review: fun for my lil' guy
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this for my son when he was about 13 or 14 months old. He is now nearly 18 months old and still plays with it. What he likes most is to pull the lever to make the cement "container" spin. The balls inside roll around and rattle (the balls are hard plastic with beads inside, which makes the rattle). When he is finished playing, he tips the back to dump the balls, then he walks off.

This toy is VERY durable. My son has thrown this toy, dropped it, and sat on it. He has thrown the balls down a flight of wooden stairs about 100 times to hear them rattle as they bounce down. They have never cracked or broken. He has put the balls in the dogs' water dish overnight, and they have never leaked water inside. The balls have laid out in the yard and have not faded. In fact, these balls get played with ALL the time, every day.

My son likes to put his round Peek-a-Boo balls in the cement mixer, and they spin well. Also, big jingle bells that he got as toys at Christmas spin well. He learned that big square blocks do not spin well.

The only "negatives" I can think of are that the back tips kinda easily, so my son had to learn a soft touch not to make it tip accidentally. And the spinny thing on the top of the driver's cab holds no interest for him, but that could just be his age.

I'm glad we have this toy.

Customer Review: HORRIBLE toy, hurt my son and my daughter!
Summary: 1 Stars

This is quite possibly the worst design in a toy I've ever seen. It looks really cute until your baby actually plays with it. The "dump" feature on the cement truck, causes the whole back of the toy to come crashing down onto the floor. Unfortunately, if a little hand or finger is in the way, it's going to get smashed. My 10 month old son had a red welt across the back of his hand from this happening. My 4 year old daughter played with it and got her finger pinched in the mechanism that makes the cement mixer spin.

Neither one of these were major injuries, but there is no reason this toy should have gotten to the public without these issues being addressed! If you own this toy and you're not happy, please call Fisher Price's customer service number and tell them. I did this and they are refunding my purchase price.

Customer Review: Use your imagination!
Summary: 4 Stars

What I like about this toy is different than what the kids in our house like about it. I like that it's open-ended, due to the fact that it doesn't make any other noises other than a rattle for the truck wheels when they move and the rattle of the balls. You have to use your imagination to create a place where the truck is doing work, driving to the work site, picking up balls, spinning them, and dumping them out.
My children, however, love the fact that the balls are super durable and can be chucked full force at anything without breaking.
I also like it because it's a cute toy!!

Customer Review: was worth it just for the balls
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this for my 15 month old son when he was 9 months old. Although it's not his favorite toy, he does play with it frequently and it is holding up very well. He most enjoys putting all manner of things in the dump part. Additionally, the balls are great. In fact, they are the most played with hard balls in the house by all the kids we have over. They're colorful, make a great rattling noise and get used in all kinds of play unrelated to the truck. I do agree with other reviewers that the dump portion of the truck is easy to pull down but that doesn't seem to be a problem for my son.

Customer Review: These balls rock!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a really neat toy for the price. My 1 year old son likes putting things in the back and spinning it. The balls that came with it are really good, sturdy balls. Me son love them! The back of the truck is easy to tip over, but that is my only complaint. Contrary to what some say, it would be really hard to pinch your fingers with this toy...it's pretty safe.
