Customer Review: Disappointing Elmo

Approaching potty training time, we thought this would be an ideal aid for our son...a huge Elmo fan. It's not as educational as the packaging and Editor's review indicate. My son lost interest in the "potty training" aspect of it almost immediately and instead prefers to play with it just as a doll. I thought you could add water to the sippie cup, assumed the potty would be more realistic and the interaction between child and Elmo would be much more inviting and fun. Quite honestly, we've had better luck with other potty training books and videos. Try again, Elmo! We still have faith.Customer Review: Michael's Step-Mom

My husband and I are trying to potty train my step-son, and are grasping at straws. Our son loves the Elmo doll and loves making Elmo need to use the potty, but so far it hasn't trained completely convinced him to be completely potty trained. I do think it helped illustrate the concept that after drinking water or juice it will trigger the need to potty, and I think that is a concept he wasn't completely understanding. The Elmo doll has helped reinforce the Elmo Potty video though, and I would suggest purchasing them together. This toy was a big help in having my daughter see the connection between drinking and going to the bathroom. It also helped her see that you can "feel" when you have to go and know when it is coming.
She had already gone on the potty a couple times when we got this toy, but she really enjoys it! We had no trouble switching to home mode and we had no trouble getting it to "talk". Overall it was a great gift because it helped our daughter understand things a little better, and it did make potty training a little easier! Anything that helps is a good thing!

This one doesn't dance or sing, it does talk a bit but is also more of a stuffed animal than the previously released hard robotic types. IMPORTANT TO KNOW: ELMO DOES NOT REALLY GO POTTY AND DOES NOT REALLY DRINK ANYTHING. We bought the doll for our niece hoping it would help her go potty- it didn't. And instead was thrown in the toy box for the more fun dancing and singing Elmo. Also as a side note, the accessories that come with Elmo are cheap made and easily lost. Once again a toy that costs just as much as the other better Elmo dolls.Customer Review: Wonderful product

Elmo has charater. He is presistant till you give him what he ask for. Once he is completed with his task you have to reward him with verbal praise before he moves on to the next phrase. This is a great learning toy that teaches not only children with good praise but also how to do things by themselves. As an adult, I enjoyed showing my neice how to work with Elmo and ho he goes to the potty and how she should also. Once you give Elmo praise and you child follows the steps that Elmo is given also give them the prais that is needed.
