I bought this gym because my son loved the Ocean Wonders cradle swing. We needed to find something that he could play with on the floor, and thought this would be an excellent choice. Once we got this home and put together (I will say it was easy to do), we realized that there was little padding for him to lay on and it looked too small for him to lay on. After putting him on it, we found that it was almost too small. Our son is 5 months old now and loves to kick, as most parents know, when an infant is kicking they tend to move up or down on the area they are playing on, so my son was practically coming off this area after just a few kicks. We also found that 2 of the toys would not activate the music and lights unless they were tapped on really hard, and the kicking wasn't activating it either. After activating it ourselves, the wheel started clicking loud and then stopping. We thought it might be the batteries, so we replaced the batteries (which were already new) with some we had purchased as extras. This still didn't work. We even moved the toys around to see if this might help (this is what we were told to do by the company). Nothing made it work, so we finally decided after a couple of days of working with this to take it back to the toy store(in our case, the nearest toy store was over 60 miles...we live in a small town). After taking it back to Toys R Us and exchanging it, we were a little alarmed to learn from one of the customer reps there that they have gotten a lot of these gyms returned for the same reason. But, in giving the company that makes these products the benefit of the doubt, we decided to go ahead and exchange it for the same thing. We get this home, and it does the exact same thing. Not only does it not want to start, but the clicking in the wheel is extremely loud. After making contact with the company once again (which we found to be very unhelpful) we contacted the toy store and they told us to bring it back in for a refund. After making another trip there, we were told by another rep there, they wish they could stop selling this because it's one of the biggest problems they've had. Oh, and there was another couple there returning this for the exact same reasons we were. My son loved this little gym for the short time he had it, which totally disappointed both me and my husband. As small as the mat was, we figured it would be ok because he was learning to sit up and wouldn't need to lay down on it for much longer, but I will say, if he picked his lags all the way up and came back down with a kick, he got hurt due to the lack of padding.
Overall...this wasn't a very good product, it seemed to be poorly made. If you compare this to the cradle swing and the take along swing, even some of the other ocean wonders products they have, it seems to be very poorly made with little consideration given to padding and durability.
I was extremely disappointed with this product and even more so when I had to return it, because our son loved to watch the fish and play with the toys attached to it.
