Customer Review: Very cute idea, but not such a good toy

I wanted this toy for my son when he was 2 months old, sadly, when Christmas came around the first year, it was sold out, then the next, and the next, 3 years in a row it was sold out near the holidays, and with such great reviews I thought this was going to be the greatest toy he could have.
By the time I was able to buy it, my daughter was at the age she could play with it as well (she was 1), so I figured it was a win win.
The idea of the toy is really cute, the mat is easy to push and the words come out pretty clear, it is easy to push with your finger, however, there are a few problems I found with the toy..
For over Fifty dollars I expected it to be much better, the little animals don't do anything, and when you sit them over the mat you have to press them hard and slide them on the button to hear the animal name, but since the animals are just pieces of plastic you can sit a tiger on the seals picture and it says "Seal" for the animal, the animals in it are just extra, they don't really do anything.
The rest of the so called "Playset" is pretty cheap made, I was expecting more from Fisher-price.
All in all you are really paying over fifty dollars for a talking mat, the animals don't do anything and the playset doesn't do anything, it's just plastic pieces to make it look better.
Save your money and buy the mat by itself for less, and maybe the bag of animals, that way you get everything that could actually be played with.
So my kids took this thing out of the box and looked at it, my daughter pushed over the top part of the playset and ran off with the polar bear, my son ignored it. Not really the best toy, I figured my daughter for sure would love the playset.
