Customer Review: a lot to pay for a little fun and VERY LITTLE learning!

after reading some reviews, we decided to buy this for our 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son (to grown into)...but got lucky and were able to borrow it from a friend to "try out".
All I can say is THANK GOODNESS!!!! We were about to seriously waste a bunch of money!!! THe educational value of the Spongebob cartridges is about ZERO! On top of that, they feature a Spongebob episode that teaches kids to memorize "POOP". You are wondering now if I'm kidding, right? Well NO I'm not. Apparently it stands for "People Order Our Patties" but all I know is my 2 year old now sees Spongebob and yells "POOP!" at the TV. Great!
Most of the other learning skills we saw on the games we tried (Spongebob, Dora, Blues Clues) were VERY toddler skills (colors, shapes, etc) or nonexistent. Not to say my 4 year old didn't have FUN, she did, but why let them sit and play junk like that when there are products out there like the Leapster, that actually TEACH something????

My husband the computer whiz was the skeptic on this one.
I bought it and set this up myself on 2 TV's in the house to make sure it worked on our DVD players before she received it for Christmas. I didn't want her disappointed if it didn't work.
My daughter was 2 ? when she received the interact TV . She had no problem learning how to use it. And she loves it. She plays with it all the time. I would buy it again.
I'm hoping they come out with more of the learning games.

I read most of the reviews and decided to invest in this product hoping we would have better luck. We spent a frustrating hour trying to set it up - and it still never worked - finally we thought we had inputed the correct code but the system still would'nt work - called the 1-800 number for help and they dont work weekends. In the meantime my 3-yr old got all excited and was very dissappointed when we told her we would have to return it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEYCustomer Review: Great Idea , Great Buy, Great Fun

I purchaed this toy for my 3&4 year old on 11/12/05. They have played with it every time the TV is on. We purchased the SpongeBob, Dora and Barney DVD's and all work great. They enjoy playing SpongeBob the best since they can just pick the card they want to play, rather then Dora and Barney where they have to go in order (cards 1,2,3). The setup process is not hard if you just choose the manuel setup proceedure. I tried the codes and they did not work for my DVD/VCR/TV combo unit, but when I went to manuel setup it worked with no problem. My boys can insert the DVD them selves and play any game they want.
They also like that the esipodes (spongebob) are the cartoons that they have seen before, and that if they dont want to do an activity or it is too difficult for them that they can just hit the skip key and contuine watching the show.
This is a great item and a great way to enjoy time with your kids and have them learn something while they enjoy alloted TV time.

This is simply an amazing product. Extremely easy to set up, and my 3 year old figured out how to use it within a few minutes. I was surprised it was so inexpensive and, in hindsight, I would have paid twice as much. Also, my son tends to be a bit clumsy, and this has hit the wood floor numerous times with no damage. No matter how hard he presses on the panel, it never skips or otherwise.
A great alternative to just sitting in front of the tv, he actually yells out the answers and loves this.
