I used to think of toys how I perceived them as an adult, some were more exciting then others, now I see them through the eyes of my child and when I see my son playing with the toys so much like with this ship I go to his level and I take a really good look at the toy, when I play with him and this toy I discover so many reasons and understand the endless hours he spends with this toy. It is just marvelous machinery, it has all I wish I had when I was a kid. It has so many different features that fuel his imagination that it is just beyond the time I have to describe them.
Nowdays as a parent I tend to judget toys by the time they keep my LO busy, if he throws a toy in the corner after five minutes I rate the toy low, if he keeps coming back to the toy over and over again then I rate this toy high. I have all reasons to give this ship five stars as it is been doing amazing things to my son's attention span. I have never seen him before being able to play with one toy and build around it so much. He will start with this ship, will bring and add all other contraptions, toys and crate entire situations with them, he will narrate the action between figures and lead them in battles, adventures and trasure hounts, rescue missions and discoveries of new uncharted lands. It is just such a pleasure to watch him to play with it. I can't resist when he invites me to join and I just jump right in and we are having tons of fun as this toy is simply not boring to an adult by no means like so many infantile toys for his age group.
Price.. well, price is what price is. As a collector, I know the value of unique toys, I have many precious Lego pieces.. Star War.. Harry Potter.. Playmobil... Disney.. you name it.. and it means nothing to me that someone says that I could have bought a toy for $20 three years or a year ago and so now I should not shell out $200 for it. I know if I will buy it now at $200 I will sell it for the same $200 when I won't need it, and this is a minimum I will get because if something holds the value it holds the value. You can't buy this ship at Fisher Price site for any $35, just as you can't buy a Star War sets that are showing on so many dead web sites around for $20 bucks just the same. Those sites are showing a history of what toy used to cost.
I am realist, I got this ship for $225.00 just a short while ago and I did not felt ripped. I knew that if it was not available at this price I would have to resolve to buying a used one and I am not in a habit of buying used toys untill I can afford a new one for my child. It is just what it is, if it is new I can buy what it is worth, I will sell it when I need and I will get back at least what I paid. I see this ship going up already so much, I wish I got it last year on Amazon when I saw it here for 150 bucks but then again, I just have to invest more but I will get my money back I am sure. I take good care of our toys and my child is not a violent type so the toys are perfercly looking no matter the time he plays with them add to it it's natural sturdiness and fabulous built then you got perfect collectible toy that will perservere many kids even rough ones withough a trace. I am glad we got this particular model because my child saw the other at some Toysrus a year ago before they compeltly dissapeared and he was not a bit intersted in the way it looked, seem that the black one is just not in any way as appealing to kids as this ship and I share the same feeling.
I see it being sold for lots of money these days and i personally think it is worth every penny. I do upgrade my technology regularly, my cell, my printer, my laptop.. because it is IMPORTANT to me, these are my tools, my toys, and I believe that
when it comes to my child tools, his toys he deserves jsut as best. If it is not available at stores anymore so be it I will get it where I still can if it is good thing.
I know that this place sometimes is bit pricier then other sites because they charge sellers bigger fees and they force them to ship for peanuts and below their costs so I shop around when I can and I know what I need. If you need this toy for less I would recommend to check auctions as I sometime see it on E--bay. I think I just saw it in auction as a matter of fact so I think that this is fair to let people to decide the market value, yet from what I saw in the past, the market value is pretty fairly priced on Amazon when this item comes and goes and I see it less and less, that means only one thing.. there is just less of them and there won't be anymore.
I totally would buy this toy all over again, price is secondary issue to me since it holds it's value so well it is almost
like you I will get what I paid anyway, I wish I could say this about other toys my son plays with.
