Customer Review: TICKLE ME DEPRESSED AND OUTRAGED!

I bought a TMX Elmo for myself for a good laugh when I needed it. It started out that way, but all I'm doing these days is crying.
The first one I bought quit working after only a few plays with fresh batteries. It gave off an electrical hum and I was wondering if he was going to erupt into flames or something.
Fisher Price wanted me to send ELMO back at my expense. I said no, and they paid for it. Then I got the replacement. The replacement is a dud too. With Elmo's three levels of laughter, he only makes it up to half of the third level and just flat out dies. I called Fisher Price again and they want me to send him back--again--at my expense. I said no, but they reluctantly gave me postage paid for the "last time." It may just be the "last time" I buy a product of theirs.
I am really tired of this. I love my ELMO, but frankly the quality of this product leaves a heck of a lot to be desired!!!!

I gave this toy last year to my 2-year-old granddaughter, whose household included a couple of turtles and cats. Never had she seen anything like Elmo, however, and she was simply terrified of him, even long after we had disabled and immobilized him. Moreover, the impression seems to have remained because, recently upon trying to renew her acquaintance with the curious creature, we found she was no more receptive of his attempts to entertain her. I guess the toy is potentially useful for encouraging children to love all creatures regardless of their faults and eccentricities. And the experience, in turn, may teach Elmo to be a bit less aggressive and overcompensating in his mannerisms in front of small children, some of whom, it's good to know, have not become so jaded by terrifying actions as to be insensitive to them. Remember the old tickle me Elmo doll? Well, this is the same thing, only with a little more action. Same laugh, same old red Elmo, just with a little kick, and tumble added to him, so why is everyone willing to go broke to get one? I think kids can wait until all the hoopla is over and get one at a real reasonable price, not paying over the regular forty bucks, which is the regular price for this toy. Come on America, don't fall into the same old thing as the last time Elmo was a hot hit. I waited the first time, and got the Tickle me Elmo after Christmas for ten bucks, when they were asking over a hundred for that one too! Teach your kids to have some patience and make them wait. I'm sure if you told them they had to spend their own money, they would wait for sure!!! He's a cute toy, but he's not made out of gold. I ordered my Elmo TMX the day it became available for sale. As was expected they sold out quickly but I was able to place my order for delivery when available. I'm an adult Elmo fan and this Elmo is unbelievably funny! I've had more fun bringing Elmo to the office and just watching everyone else watch Elmo - - you can't not laugh.
What is sad is that the stores allowed entire stocks of Elmo to be sold to one customer and you just KNOW these creeps are re-selling Elmo at a grossly inflated price to anyone desperate to pay the price. Of course the manufacturers created the media hype and the demand also knowing they wouldn't supply enough to meet the consumer interest so this too supports the profiteers. It's sad that this sweet character has become part of an ugly practice....which will only stop when others boycott this type of behavior.

I really hope no one reading this spent gobs of money on this ridiculous toy. It's barely worth the regular price of 37.77 at WalMart. My poor mother waited in line for a delivery truck at Walmart for two hours just a couple of days before Christmas. She fortunately only paid the regular price for it. It was a gift for my 2 year old. He opened the box, laughed at it for literally a minute or two, then moved on to his GeoTrax train set, which we can not pull him away from. TMX Elmo now sits dormant under our Christmas tree catching dust. Neither my 2 year old nor my 3 year old want anything to do with it. If you have not been able to purchase one, just wait until the price drops and the market is saturated with them, just like back in 1996 with the regular Tickle Me Elmo. This is just another media hyped toy that isn't worth anything.
