Toys and Games Reviews of Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo

Customer Review: WHAT AN INFECTIOUS LAUGH!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I actually don't have this Elmo yet, but I did pre-order it (it should arrive on Thursday). I actually bought it for my 21 month old daughter for her birthday in December, but I don't think I can wait that long. I will give it to her this weekend. I will update my review then to tell you how she reacted.

Now for the reason I wrote the review. I just watched a video clip from the Good Morning America website [...]. It was deputed today on the show!! The link for the video clip is listed under "Hot Topics".

After the first "ticke", Elmo starts to slap is knee and falls to the floor giggling. He then stands back up and asks for more. After the second "tickle", Elmo starts to slap is knee again falls to the floor and starts to kick his feet. All while laughing hysterically. Then again he stands back up and begs for more. After the third and final "tickle", Elmo starts to slap his knee, falls to the floor again, rolls to his side, kicks his feet then turns over and starts to slap the floor. LOL! All while laughing hysterically!! He then stands up again so you can start it all over again! He has such an infectious laugh! I am still giggling!

Elmo supposedly has three tickle points as listed in the description. One under his chin, his belly and one on the top of his foot. He also seems to be very hard and stiff, so I'm pretty sure I won't let my daughter sleep with him at night as I'm sure she would want to. Although, I know (well at least I hope) that my daughter will just love him, I also know that he will probably get on my nerves. LOL! Hey, its all in fun right?

Update:

So we received our Elmo actually on Wednesday. I gave it to my daughter on Saturday morning (the same day I took her pacifier away, I thought this would be a great distraction). Anywho, unfortunately, my daughter is a little afraid of Elmo. The first time we turned him on, she ran away from him. After a little while (and after we turned him off), she gave Elmo a big hug and a kiss. She is very happy that she has her very own Elmo, but she would much prefer that he just did nothing (or say his "La La La La" song LOL!).

On the other hand, Elmo was a GREAT hit this weekend with Dad, Auntie and the grandparents. They all just love him. So did I. My daughter's aunt (in her early 20s) loved him most of all. She thought he was the coolest thing out!

Soo, if I could rate Elmo again, I would give him 4 stars. While my daughter loves the fact that she has an Elmo, she doesn't really like the fact that he rolls on the floor, etc. But the ADULTS all love him. I will probably be looking for plush Elmo doll for her birthday in December.

Customer Review: NOSTALGIA IN RED FUR! ELMO ROCKS NOW EVEN BETTER THAN IN '96!
Summary: 5 Stars

Elmo is popular with kids of all ages and the biggest kids of all ... parents! I've always been partial to red-haired people, so naturally I fell in love with Elmo; his hair (faux fur) is the reddest of the red! He's handsome, hilarious, and a big holiday hit! It's a joy seeing everyone laugh and have a good time with him.

I remember going from store to store in 1996 before managing to get the first incarnation of Elmo for my kids. I had to make five trips to only succeed in getting four Elmos, and I had to be pretty creative (sly) in getting the fifth one. It happened like this: I was out to breakfast after church with a friend and wasn't expecting to go shopping, so didn't bring my credit cards or much cash. As luck would have it, we passed a store that advertised they had Elmo in stock. When we went in, there was only one left. I grabbed it, then asked my friend to hold it while I returned home for my money. While waiting, she carried Elmo all around that store, with everyone she met trying to talk her out of it (even offering her more money than it cost). My friend held out until I returned with the money, and Elmo was mine ... er ... the kids!!!

Now, ten years later, this new Elmo, the most secretly guarded toy of this Christmas Season 2006, is a vast improvement over the first one: Three different tickle spots trigger rounds of infectious laughter and movement (see above description for more hilarious details). And best of all, the 6 required AA batteries are included. (No unexpected trips to the store on Christmas Day. ... YAY!)

Playing with this toy is a real delight, setting a happy mood for the entire Christmas Day. I join America in looking forward to the giggles and snickers on Christmas morning when the kids open their ELMOs. Of course, I won't see all of my kids open theirs since they're in their own homes now (with their own children), but we now have two of our grandchildren staying with us, so their laughs will brighten our day aplenty! And I'm certain some of the kids will bring their ELMOs with them when they arrive for Christmas dinner at "Grandma's."

Get your very own ELMO while it's not too late! But, actually, it's never too late for laughter, so if you miss getting Elmo for Christmas, he'll still be laughing ... ALL YEAR LONG.

Customer Review: Elmo Is a lovable thing!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got my elmo for christmas and I love him. I don't care what ADULTS have to say because they don't matter.. This item is targeting KIDS.... ROFFLEMAO WTF LOL BBQ.

Anyways, I find Tmx very lovable and durable. I also slept with mine christmas night. Because of all his pluah fur I found him easy to sleep with.

Elmo doesn't get old to me. I drag him out first and play with him. But even me sometimes...I find my elmo a bit creepy... Sometimes I feel as if he is lunging at me to hurt me. But then again he is a innocent toy so I pick him up and hug him again. Some don't relize elmo is a toy so I wouldn't

reccomend for a kid who can't tell the diffrence.

Elmo is funny. At least I think so because I love to roll around the floor with him. I like to think he's my friend. So far I laugh to the point of not breathing everytime I tickle my elmo.

Even my parents wander over and laugh at him with me. They say Elmo is crazy. I love my elmo. I even buy him build a bear clothes for him. And his box is his bed. (I thought his box was so pretty I kept it)

I bring him to work with my mommy and tote him in his box... And between me and you I like to read him stories. Whenever I feel said I just like to get my elmo and tickle him and his laughing makes me laugh and I feel cozy again.

One time I dropped elmo during dinertime and he didn't break!! My parents got a lil mad but elmo didn't break and he still danced pretty good!

I like it alot how he stands up after he spazzez out. I also love combing my elmos hair. When the whole family came over for Christmas they all wanted to play with my elmo..even my grandpa and grandpa! I even got in a arguement over my elmo because becky kept throwing him and hdin him from me.

I can't wait to sleep with him tonight my little funny friend!

P.s
I'm 7 okay.. I'm a big girl so this is a big girl review. Shhh

And don't listen to those dumb bunnies under me.. They aren't even kids y'know so they don't madder abyway!

Customer Review: Don't knock Amazon. Knock free markets. All hail price controls and communism!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Amazon provided these for $39.99 when they could. And entrepreneurs are selling it for $200 on eBay.

Why should you be mad? If there are people out there willing to spend $200 on this item why shouldn't there be a seller willing to sell it for $200? Maybe the people you should really be mad at are the people who want one for $200 (aka, people who contribute more to society and are therefore compensated more) and therefore create a market for $200 Elmos.

If you weren't one of the lucky few who got one for $39.99, then maybe you should wait. Or buy your child something else. Let free markets decide.

Here's some advice. Look for small markets in small cities. Waste your money on gas and standing in lines to get these Elmos. Kmart would most likely have it mid day or later in the day if you can't stand in line and miss work. Walmart would most likely not have it since Walmart sees thousands of customers walk through their doors every day. Costco may have it since they get dozens of these and people aren't going here to buy Elmos. However, Costco has lots of customer traffic as well. Toys R Us is one of the most logistically awkward chains and will get shipments mid day. Call them up. My local Toys R Us had them at 6PM! Weird. Target leaves very little shelf space for these and were just giving what amounted to a rain check in the form of a TMX Gift Card.

Or, instead of missing work to get these, maybe you should go to work, make that extra buck and buy one on eBay for $200. It might be worth not having to stand in line, waste gas, calling up stores, sleeping in parking lots. See, the $200 is worth it when you demand it and supply is low.

EDIT: Sept 20, 2006

It's only been a day and supply and demand sure does amazing things to prices. Now that eBay is saturated with these, the price has gone down to about $70 and Amazon's vendors now have it at $70. Efficient Market Theory at its best.

It's amazing that a children's toy can teach so many people about basic microeconomics.

Customer Review: All the holiday hype for this disappointment????
Summary: 1 Stars

As consumers we are very upset with the holiday hype that Fisher-Price built for this much awaited toy, only to have such a limited release of product that would lead to stratospheric pre-holiday bidding wars by "must-have" parents. This marketing strategy to optimize margins, was far mis-calculated as a great number of consumers who would have been willing to pay MSRP for "TMX Elmo" were left without the option to do so.

The limited release was certainly beneficial for "resellers" who had opportune accessibility to the very limited pre-holiday supply. As far as I can tell, this identifies the misjudgement of Fisher-Price above all else, as the reellers were better able to capitalize on the market demand better than the manufacturer for full retail prices!!! Wow, glad I wasn't an analyst there!! The sad part of this marketing plan is that the ones who were most negatively affected were little kids who just wanted Santa to bring them a cool toy that they have heard much about!!!

Because we work too hard for our money to support such inflated pricing, our kids went without until we could purchase Elmo at a "bargain" price of $[...]!!! At this price I will tell you that it was still about $[...] too much. Our kids got done playing with this much awaited holiday toy after about a week after it was delivered to our door!! My advice is to save your money for your childs education or a more thought provocative toy for them to enjoy. We have been very disappointed with our "TMX Elmo" which fails to upright itself after it has fallen down from the tickle induced laughing frenzy (as we saw ones on TV upright themselves). We donated our TMX to a charity group about a month after we received it. Hopefully, this review will spare you from some disapointment.
